What are we?

Postby TooCloseToTheEdge » Fri Jan 07, 2011 7:50 pm

I mean, really. Do you all know what you really are? Because you are neither humans, nor spirits. I don't want to offense anyone. I want to find out what I am. I know that once a person with DID dies, that person becomes an alter. We have some in our system that were people, real people. They showed me things I would never think that are real, but they are. For instance me, Claire, and the others are just in the host's mind, unlike Renee and Jennifer, who were real humans, like all the hosts.
If anyone can say what they are (I mean the alters), they must be really smart, because I couldn't find an answer.

I don't know if I make sense at all.

We are parts of a real human.

As my partner we are just slices to the loaf.

I am sorry that you do not believe that we are real people but we are and we do have feeling we do have thoughts and we do have our own control.

WARNING! THIS REPLY IS TRIGGERING!

Actually, when people die, they rot.

The technical term for copying somebody into your mind is "introjection". Forget about spirit possession, people who believe in that will burn you, beat you, take your money and convince you that you are weak and broken and hopeless.

You have to accept that anyone in your system is ultimately:
a) real
b) a living human
c) the same person as you

If you can't handle that, at least to use it to work out how to proceed, then at least don't go around accusing everybody else of being ghosts, aliens, or in any other way imaginary fairy tale stuff. One way or another you are all in the same body. Calling them names isn't going to make things better.

Ok... a) and b) I understand and I agree. But c) the same person as me... I wouldn't say that. Because, you see, I am an alter too. And I thought that alters are like their mains in a way or another. And our main is missing for a couple of months... And we are different from each other.

The thing that we do have feelings and thoughts and our own control shows that we are persons.

I wasn't accusing anyone of being ghosts, aliens or anything else. What I wanted to say is: how do you know that you are humans?

I didn't think I was human, and I still haven't come to terms with finding out that all that I am is a part of someone else. I am nothing but someone's overreactive imagination.

Could be, but does it matter if you get the chance to breathe the same air as the rest of them? You get your own time, just less than a single would. You could say that's a downside, but you can also say that being out all the time is exhausting. I don't think I could make it, personally. Dealing with life outside seems more stressful most of the time :P

We are our own people. We are what happens when the main personality experiences trauma and breaks into others. We were never meant to be born in the accepted sense as a material person, because we are the result of a fragmented mind, and are only in existence because of the main. We used to be an aspect of a personality; a facet in the jewel, as it were, until the brain found it necessary for us to seperate. As Morgan's alter, I am a part of her, whilst simultaneously a seperate being.

How do you know that when a person with DID dies, they become an alter? I was never a physical person. I've always resided in Morgan's mind.

Well, there are some alters that claim that they were real. I have a good friend, who has DID, and she has an alter who is from Italy, and she had DID, now she is an alter. The night she came, she was really scared and she was talking only Italian and my friend never ever learned Italian and she doesn't have relatives there, or something like that. Well, that girl signed in on her Y!M. And her friends were online and they were freaking out, b/c they found out that she died only an hour earlier. (hit by car on her way back from school). I saw it too. *Claire*

It doesn't sound as if this Italian girl is an alter. If she was a real, material person, it sounds almost as if the Italian girl possessed your friend. This may be a good thing, as long as it hasn't caused any harm, but the Italian is not, by definition, an alter. I am not implying that the Italian is lying to your friend. It could be what she thinks she is now, or it could be something she said in order to calm your friend down.
