According to the most recently published opinions of those who have done the most serious research/taken the time to consider seriously all we have to consider on the subject of dissociation (Dissociation and the dissociative disorders - google it), DDNOS exists "only in the minds of [some] practitioners", ie it does not exist. If you are wondering between DID and DDNOS, you are almost certainly just DID. DID as it is, is measured and sized up based upon symptoms that arent likely to manifest in most DIDd patients, according to those who have taken real-life into account.

also, if you are confused, it is known that there is such a thing as "one-way-information-sharing". So whereas you may not be able to glean the experience of an alter who is present with you, they can still perceive information from your incoming stream as well as their own (you think they are there - but aren't sure. They know for sure that you and they are there). Two-way would of course be the most commonly-understood conception of "co-consciousness", where it is clear to you that you are present with each other.
