Bad Headaches & Switching

Postby Cloudgirl » Sun Aug 15, 2010 2:05 pm

We are going through an a lot in our therapy just now ,added to that something else has increased our stress lots .There is so much switching going on and most days I dont seem to know whats gone on for large chunks of the days.
Am also getting the most awful headaches ,does anybody else get this ?
My short term memory is getting worse,I think its probably because the switching is sometimes so quick and rapid .Just wondered if anybody else finds this happens.

Thanks from us

I have a bunch of stuff happening alongside of the therapy, and it
does cause rapid switching because of the nature of the stress.

I've never had headaches with switching (Lucky, I guess) but I do get
disoriented and dizzy with the feeling of being in a revolving door or a
fair ride when I rapid switch.
I've heard headaches are common with switching.

Things do calm down, hang in there for now. :)
Therapy causes ups and downs... sometimes you feel great, sometimes
you're not so great, and having added stress is that... added stress.
In all my situations I've been through, no matter how stressful things got,
things did calm down eventually. Make sure you find some good coping methods :)

I used to get headaches every time I was switchy like that. Now it only happens if we're super stressed out (which we are right now, as well). From what I understand the headaches are pretty normal for multiples. The most annoying thing is, ya can't take a Tylenol and get rid of the sucker. Maybe they need to invent an OTC pill for "switching headaches" ("Apply directly to the mind.")

Thanks everyone for your replies ,much appreciated .
One of the things I find hard with the rapid switching is trying to explain and cover up constant mistakes with practical stuff and short term memory problems to outside people
especially in laws etc who dont even understand our anorexia, harming problems or OCD and they cetainly havent got a clue about DID .

Thankyou from us

switching = headaches when one party is unwilling.
if it's forced.
which means the kids do it a lot by accident.

just calmin down a lil seems to help. idky maybe its cause it lets people involved know whats going on.

Hello
I remember bad headaches are not any fun though I did find something that helps with them Johnny one of my other personalities told the doctor about the headaches and they gave me something called topamax it helped with the headaches they were under control with it I only know what Johnny did because he left me a note on my computer he knows that I like to know what is going on with me so if he switches with me he leaves me a note this way if someone asks me about what I said or what I have done while he was in control I will know what they are talking about Johnny got all of my other personalities to start leaving me notes on my computer when they switch with me so I know what has happened when they are the ones in control.
