Could it be another personality?

I have a friend who is also a multiple - though only with one alter. For some months, she's been having these dreams where she gets raped. It's always the same man (and she can give a very clear description of him) in every dream, and when she wakes up, she actually feels pain from the rape, and a sort of burning feeling in her whole body, especially her head. The dreams also feels so real she sometimes isn't sure it's really dreams.

Today when we talked about it, it hit me that perhaps it could be an unknown alter that is doing this to her, that it perhaps isn't dreams, but really him hurting her. Do you think this is possible, and in that case, what should she do? What can I do to help her?

Geez it could be anything. A new alter is a possibility as well an an existing alter projecting on her. It could be flashbacks which can be very vivid. They could even just be dreams that leave her so shaken she feels them. There are too many possibilities for what it could potentially be. You really need to get more info.

Do you know why your friend split in the first place and have you asked her alter about these dreams and the possibility of a new alter? Alters usually know a lot more about what's going on in the system than the host, I'd be asking the alter if I were you.

She was sexually abused in her childhood, that's why she split. So yeah, I guess the dreams could be related to that.

I'll talk to her alter about it, that's a good idea. Didn't even think of that, man am I bright *sarcastic*
