Last night, some voice was talking to me all night. It was hard to get a good nights rest, even though I couldn't get a distinct read on what the voice was talking about. I think the voice was in charge of a door of some kind and he kept asking questions.
I'm not asking if such a thing can be used to diagnose DID alone. But I am curious if this type of thing happens to people with the disorder.

All the time. It's pretty normal for us. Given that, when one is falling asleep, s/he tends to have sharpened senses, it makes sense that we could hear those inside better at that time.

"A man goes far to find out what he is--
Death of the self in a long, tearless night,
All natural shapes blazing unnatural light.
Dark, dark my light, and darker my desire.
My soul, like some heat-maddened summer fly,
Keeps buzzing at the sill. Which I is I?"

Sorry, but we cannot concentrate long enough to read really long replies or threads so don't think we're being rude if we don't.

Wow. The other night just as I was laying down, I recalled a portion of something traumatic from my childhood. Shortly afterward, I became aware of a whole series of voices. They were thoughts, but they had a distinctive quality to them and they kept changing so it was like difference voices. IT was hard to follow what they were saying actually, but it sure caught my attention and took it away from the bad thoughts. There were so many distinct voices that that I remembered that I felt "not alone" in a way that I haven't felt in a very long time. In those moments, I felt sure about having DID and it was a relief to know and understand something about myself. Reasssuring somehow. Now in the light of day, I would be reluctant to claim with certainty that I have DID. But it sure was a thought-provoking experience.

This has never happened to me probably because there are only 4 of us. How many alters do the rest of you have?

Last night I dreamt that I had DID and I was being persecuted by 3 or 4 different people because of it. They really wanted to hurt me because they percieved me as being so strange and threatening.
