sounds like your alter is in some denial of his own. It may not be easy for them to accept that they are alters as well. My alters went through the same thing. They think a lot about their life in detail and it is a lot to take in for them. Lots of questions have come up for them. Such as; Do I have my own soul? How long will I live? Where will I go when I die? If I die does that mean I return to the main personality? Thinking of these things I'm sure are hard for them. So far mine are coping well. Sounds like yours need to realize who they are.

Maybe we are a little Bipolar. With Dul's hysteria, Kameleon's random and inappropriate chemical binges, and Ravin's constant lifestyle changes, we certainly have a lot of the symptoms. Since Bipolar is treatable, I should be sure to rule that out before jumping on a personality diagnosis.

Does Bipolar mimic dissociative conditions? I know BPD does, and most of us have varying degrees of borderline traits. I'm actually thinking there may be fewer of us than I had thought. Like, some of us are using aliases and presenting themselves as different people because they're confused and disoriented. Kameleon is really bad at this, he'll take on a different persona every time he appears. And Ravin looks a whole lot like Leonardo, from my perspective. But I don't really know any of them, so I won't say too much.

Ugh. There are an infinite number of ways to look at this. I want to find something we can all agree on, but some of them don't even believe this is going on. I don't even know if I believe it anymore.

Its complicated yes, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I wouldnt rule anything out completely until you work on it more. BPD is similar but there is no mention of time loss or other personalities in the symptoms. Bipolar is possible, but its hard to tell if there are other things going on. If the doctor doesn't know about the DID he could keep misdiagnosing you because he hasn't considered the fact you might have both or just one. DID has been often misdiagnosed as bipolar, or so I've heard. So its up to you when you would like to bring it up with your doctor. Only he can make the distinction between the two (given he is very knowledgeable about DID) I would say sooner rather then later, but thats just me.

Actually, he's a GP. He's just been giving me antidepressants (for the nebulous dx "Anxiety Disorder NOS") and stimulants for ADHD, which is DEFINITELY a misdiagnosis. It's stabled me out a little bit, but I get really lengthy anxiety attacks and Adderall doesn't help that too much.

Do you know of something I could take in place of it, like Lithium or Xanax or something? Something I could suggest to the doctor while I'm still sorting out the diagnosis? I'm going to tell him tomorrow if I can, maybe not all the gory details..

Well, nevermind about Xanax. That would ###$ me up so fast. Usually, I can't even get alcohol to calm me down. The last thing I need is a fun pill.

I'm not able to recommend medication for I am no doctor. I don't recommend too much beer right now though, thats for sure. Trying to help this with alcohol is not going to work. All I can say is talk to your doctor about it, tell him your concerns about everything you can, the medication, the misdiagnosed ADHD, and anything else you are concerned about.

Well, sobriety is always a safe prescription to give (unless you're an alcoholic, in which case it can kill you).

I'm taking the Celexa again, which should help with the panic attacks and denial. Might make the impulsivity worse. I don't know if my doctor gives mood stabilizers or not. They require a lot more supervision.

Thanks for listening all this time. I barely remember writing any of that, which is kinda scary.

Is it normal to, like, have no idea who you are? When your alts take over, do you know which ones you are? Does it ever feel like your a chameleon changing colors and patterns every second or something?

EDIT: In other words, do you ever feel like THIS:
