Could someone explain?

Could someone explain this graph more? http://www.2multiples.com/twcrew/47_page.html
The graph where is says Co-presence etc - About the middle of the web page?
"In real life there can be more than one person in the receptionist's area, and the same is true in our metaphor. If more than one alter is in the receptionist's area you would be interacting with alters who are experiencing co-presence or co-consciousness. It is possible for an alter to have awareness and very limited interaction with the external environment, but they aren't working with the alter who is actively out. This would be called co-awareness. The two alters are still completely separate, but one really isn't in control of the body. You could think of it as one alter standing at the doorway eavsdropping rather than actually entering the receptionist's area. Depending on what you need, the receptionist may decided to go get someone else to come out and deal with you. That would be called "switching" because one alter leaves and a different alter comes forward to take their place."
This is how I feel most of the time, but if I can hear most of what the other says, then why can't I control it? I try screaming but nothing come out. Would i be blended in this graph?

This is rather confusing. I wouldn't worry too much about it but, from what you've said, I think that - yes - you would either be Blended or perhaps Co-Conscious. Really though, don't let this bother you because it's impossible to define a person perfectly.

I understand- it is what it is but I truely want a chance( even if there isn't)to figure this out. I feel in the background all to often now of another speaker. The thing is, I got to know. All these years of not knowing why I'm so impossible, different and special packed into one body just leaves me tired now. If at least I knew( even if they don't) I'm jiggy with it but I feel I'd have some peace of mind at least, sometimes. Thank you though Chucky-I'm just difficult

You can be aware of what's happening and of what "you're" doing without being able to interfere or control what's happening at all.. then you're watching from behind, so that would indeed be co-conscious. Co-consciousness can be really troublesome though, if you can't do anything and still can see what's happening.. it has just as much downsides as amnesia has.. but it is a pro that you know what's happening so you may be able to figure out more about your alters sooner.. can you try to talk to the one who's out when you're watching but unable to control your body? Ask what he/she's doing and why, and that you'd like to get to know him/her?

Think of multiplicity like driving a car instead of a body. Sometimes you're driving alone, and sometimes there are others in the car - that is co-consciousness. Just like driving with others, sometimes you're behind the wheel and sometimes you're not. You can be driving in complete silence with your passengers, you can have someone doing some heavy "back seat" driving, or you can be sitting in the third row of an SUV with very little awareness of the trip.

Unlike driving though, being co-conscious means your "passengers" can take the wheel at any time, or put you back behind the wheel with no warning.

Hi Shadow,

I'm not multi, but I have a son that is and I tend to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I did want to share this with you.

Matt and I have talks at night. He has 3 main alter's. Matt is normally the "receptionist". He's not co conscious, but when another alter was out, during one of our talks, I asked him if he was aware of what was going on when he wasn't out front. He told me that if he feels it pertains to him or something he wants to know, he will "listen in". His angry alter says he "knows of" one of the other alters, but they don't speak and he does not like Matt or the way he lives, dresses, nothing!

Like Chucky/Kevin said (paraphrasing here, lol) Everyone is different and it's hard to put a person in a single labled box.

Pam
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up,totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO" what a ride!"

Thanks everyone!
Is anyone here co conscious? I ask because i'd like to know what daily life feels like for you? I'm struggling again with denial. I change from angry then happy but forget most of why i was even angry in the first place. Thing is, after a mood/switch i feel sore and tired,is this normal?

I both have co-conscious moments/times as amnesiac ones.. so I'm familiar with both experiences. I can lose time and not know what's happened and I can watch helplessly.. it differs with how I'm doing, which alter is coming out, what triggered the switch..

Feeling sore and tired after a switch is normal, switching can unfortunately enough take a lot of energy.
