Shouldn't there be an alter with least or no friction

Postby AW10 » Thu Jul 18, 2024 2:39 pm

Since alters are all different, it cannot be that mind is perfectly compatible to each alter, some should fit mind better than others. In other words, there has to be a way to tell what is intended design, what truly works the best for one's psyche.

You don’t have one in your system who you really get on with?

Getting along with one's system or one's brain is what therapy is about. It can take more or less time from alter to alter and from system to system.

Things can get better I promise! It's a long and difficult way but it can get better!

That is not what I am asking, but to answer, I as alter Toni get on with alter Tiana, since we know each other very well.

I feel that fronting as some alters is overwhelming my psyche more than others, I call it friction.

For instance, it is more intense to front with extroverted alters than with introverted alters, like I was designed to be introverted not extroverted.

Also, one of my alters is female and it feels more heavy to front as that alter, like I was designed to have male mind not female mind.

Oh I see what you mean now!

It gets better with integration and therapy, as the whole system starts to find its proper balance and everything frictionnal "events out".

Takes time and effort but you'll get here eventually. Baby steps. :)

With regards to introvert vs extrovert it may be related to spoons.

The spoon theory says every thing that is ever done or thought requires energy this energy can be measured like ingredients. The amount of energy required to do a sent task will always be the same but a person's ability to do it will vary this is because everyone is a slightly different sized spoon.

Eg. Talking to a stranger is 1 table spoon of social energy.
An extrovert is a table spoon and this task is easy for them
An introvert is a teaspoon. 4 teaspoons make a table spoon so technically the introvert can do the task but it is 4 times harder
A person with a social phobia is one of those disposable paper teaspoons. If they try to give a table spoons worth of social energy their spoon will probably break after the second or third scoop, when that happens they will panic and fail. This is known as running out of spoons.

Being a system each alter has access to different amounts of mental energy and different resources. The more skills you have the bigger or more durable your spoon is. Your brain is a drawfull of spoons and the extrovert have taken all the big social energy spoons leaving you with the small ones. From your perspective socialising is exhausting but from their perspective it's a doddle and if they were to write a post about the same issue they would probably be complaining about how they are being held back by introverted alters and the brain was meant to be social because they enjoy being in public on the rare occasion they can persuade you to go out.

What your brain was meant to be you will only find out through therapy. As you developed communication with the others you can start organising according to strength. How nice would it be if you didn't have to worry about socialising because the extrovert are doing it for you?
