Where do alters go when not fronting?

Postby WatertheFire » Sat Mar 30, 2024 5:38 am

I am co-conscious and never experience loss of time. My alters experience life with me in the present moment and do not know of another living space they can be. Together we determined there is a place in which alters can watch what is going on in our head or the external world but they feel distant from interacting with it. We call this "sleeping". Is this familiar with anyone else?

Where do your alters go when not fronting? What do they do and how do you know the answers to these questions? Do the alters tell you or did you and/or the alters practice and work to make manage?

We have a certain level of co-consciousness, but we don't have a perfect amount of it. We've realized there's large gaps and it can take a little bit for someone fronting to catch up on what's going on.

That said...we have our rooms in our cabaret inside the city that is our headspace. Each of us has our own room. Some of us share that room with others, some don't. When alters want to be close to the front they're in the room with the stage in it. If they're fronting, that's where they 'perform'.

Scientifically speaking...no idea where the others go when they aren't fronting.

Take care,
Vi

Scientifically / neurologically speaking, when an alter is not active, they go nowhere. They are just "asleep". They are here, exactly the same as when fronting, just inactive.

A bit like an app on your phone is still on your phone and goes nowhere after you close it.

Mine live in a house with outside. i still haven't seen all of it. I saw a playroom/nursery for little tiny ones. It might've been only a play room. I saw p's room a tad of it... i saw a bit of the kitchen/liv... outside.. a bit... another area where i guess ppl are held if they are causing trouble?? Umm...
Been having tremendously painful headaches lately. I think maybe me and a little girl who grew up a bit were coconcious the other day... nearly a week ago. it felt like i had two heads like her head was on my shoulder. Last weekend a terrible thing happened that was very triggering and it felt like a part was pulling my head in two. it was so painful. I've been aware of the DID a bit over 1 year 10 mos. I hope this helps. :o I normally am completely amnesic when they come out. i woke up ... 2 nights ago I think... I woke up sitting up straight and my arm around my blanket which was curled up so I pulled it out and it came apart and i covered myself. Maybe a small perosn inside.. child... needed something to hold on to or maybe someone made it that way on purpose? Anyway... hope this helps. :o I have been in so much pain today. :o :'(

That is not correct with me. i see them inside laughing, eating, watching tv, etc. Just cause I don't see them doesn't mean they are not doing anything, or are asleep. The first night I was awokened by children's voices while I was asleep. So they are activite all the time. Yes they sleep, sometimes, but that is when they go to sleep like a regular person. I see them inside doing all kinds of stuff.
Anyway... :o :| :?   :o :) :D

My alters do not go anywhere. Either they notice something about what's happening in daily life, or they don't. Sometimes they get stuck in flashbacks.

I remember reading that the concept of having an inner world is more metaphorical than that your brain would literally run multiple experienced realities at once.

We have a vast world but the external host is not thinking about what is going on in the inside when they are out front, but when another alter went up front to co-host with them they would have access to what that had been going on in the inner world.

We have had hosts unable to connect to the inside world at all when it was deemed necessary (so no one found out) but it didn't stop insiders been able to slip out from time to time.

I (Bobby) am the creator of our inner world. I had a photographic memory in childhood and back then thre were no video games and only black & white TV (well thats all we had until much later).

We have a communal hub that we call the sanctuary farm, it has a farmhouse, the littles and their carers live there. There's also some smaller 'guest lodges' around for older alters who want some alone time or wish to go to sleep for a bit.

There's luxury barns for some very early trauma fragments (before 7yrs old) that have no language and present as baby animals. They are looked after by the insiders. Another barn has an Holosuite inside you just go in and play your fav program...theres Narnia, Pandora, Hyrule, Star Trek locations and the various ships. Animal Crossing Island and 100 Acre Wood for the littles. Obviously idea came from Star Trek and used for recreation.

Now we can do meditation ...whoever is external host...if they want some time in the holodeck they summon a changeling ...who comes forwards with what they want to blend with them. Myself and our changelings carry the memories of the programs.

The host would just appear to outsiders to be sat meditating or something...I guess some may call it daydreaming but its more intense. I used to pace alot and talk to whoever was in the scene out loud or whisper...(some call this Maladaptive Daydreaming) but we've had a couple of strokes so the body can't do as much now. We used to be just autistic - no physical disability, until about mid 30's (first TIA)

The host can just take an hour 'break' then the changeling returns inside and the host can continue with daily tasks in the outside world.

These days though we have video games so instead of having to imagine a world from scratch we can just visit the world via a video game. Once I've mapped the world by playing it on the console I recreate it in the Holosuite so others can access that world (for ones that never come near the front)

Scientfically speaking, it means they are still active in the background OR your brain needs to see them doing stuff so you see them doing stuff.

My answer was about "when do alters ""go"" when they are completely inactive" sorry for not clarifying.

if it is true how do they know when abuse is happening.. how do they know when you need help because you are terrified, scared, etc. :o Please think about it. You are tellin gpeople what is right for them. It is not. They are watching nearly if not all the time. I don't appriciate you telling me something that is not right for me. You can blv it if u like, but i know it is not true for me. :o If they are asleep all the time how did they keep me amnesic from the worst of it all? The sex*ual abuse... any sra etc how can ppl keeep someone amnesic if they are not aware when they are not out??? :l

Not fronting is different than not active, I think. So I think you and ArbreMonde are talking about two different things.

We have a lot of co-consciousness, so even though only one might be fronting, the others are aware, and active, and commenting on what's happening.

I don't think anyone said that alters are constantly asleep, just that if you didn't perceive them as being active, they didn't "go" anywhere, they were still present, just not doing anything. Clearly you have many alters active simultaneously.

Hi,

Host and I are pretty much involved with the outside world all the time. But the other alters are still there - just more like a second language. Like it doesn't go away when you're not using it. It's just waiting. If someone talks to you in that other language you know what they said and you can talk back to them. You don't have to 'find' it in your back pocket or something.

Iain - 14, Colin - 17, Evan - 7, Cody - 16, & Host - the adult out front

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?
