If you are in the Las Vegas, Nevada area this guy has treated over 30 with DID and many with DDNOS. I just got his book Parts Psychology and loving it. I thought I would share this for those that might be near him and need a T.

I just finished translating a documentary about DID.
It is here (split in four parts, because YouTube doesn't allow more than 15 min. unless you authorise yourself) *** see end of post for trigger warnings ***:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMwDlmc8 ... p_play_all
I have worked about two full days on it, I'm really proud of it. But there are probably a lot spelling / grammar / language / translation errors, so feel free to PM me ;-). If you want the raw subtitle source, I can send it as well.
(I have never subtitled a movie before, but I have once done some translation work the other way round.)

The original (untranslated) is here:
http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl/afleveringen/1259055
(legal thing: it doesn't belong to me, I just translated it to help other people)

It is about a person having DID, who is followed for 3 years.
It was the first time I came in contact with DID. I found it very interesting, but I didn't expect anything at that time...

Here is a list of potential (strong) triggers:
  • Denial/doubt/non-acceptance of the diagnosis whenever the parents are talking.
  • Mentions of the cause throughout the video (but not detailed)
  • 25:30-30:30 talk about a suicidal personality (including getting it to front) (starts at part 3, and continues till 5:00).
  • ~28:00 a few seconds talk about what that personality wants to do
  • 29:00-30:25 too much sticking to rules and not taking responsibility (I don't know whether that may trigger, but anyway.)
  • 33:50-35:00 talk about two failed suicide attempts (warning: with details. part 3; 8:15-9:25)
  • 36:05-38:50 talk about how the sexual abuse happened, but not very specific (the most sensitive parts are avoided, mostly about when it happened) (part 3; 10:30-13:20)
  • 41:55-42:25 father wants to take revenge (in a very creepy way...), but won't do that (part 4; 2:15-2:50)
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

This is a Resource thread that I have made in the hopes of helping others. It contains resource websites about DDNOS/DID, and threads from this forum about common experiences, questions, issues/conflicts/problems, etc., that may be helpful to others who read them.

Haven't finished reading it yet cause it's pretty long. I thought some of you might be interested in reading experiments about both the explicit and implicit memory processing of DID's.

How do "fragments" fit into a system? I've had fragments and I'm not sure how to represent them when I try to map out my system, which is what I'm focusing on doing. And I'm struggling with it a lot. Basically I'm accomplishing nothing, except the recognition of my confusion.

Often similar questions pop up, and are answered by links of other posts of the subject. Is it possible to gather them in this board?

I can t read it all at once, it s too much, an d then struggle to find it again?

If it s not possible, that sokay too. Just a suggestion.

Love

Here are 3 threads on this DID Forum about useful self-assessment tools:

Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES). Start with this one. The DES is the gold-standard preliminary screening tool for assessment of dissociative disorders.

Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire (SDQ-20). This is a screening tool for dissociation with many somatic (body) signs and symptoms.

Cardiff Anomalous Perceptions Scale. This is a screening tool for the many kinds of experiences that we have, such as seeing things and hearing things, that are often incorrectly presumed to be evidence of psychosis.
