OK so it was super hard to get me to go to therapy. Mostly because it was Host's idea not mine. It's my job to keep him stable and functioning so we have a life. Therapy looked like 'Let's just totally mess up your mind until you lose everything'. It was up to me not to let that happen.

Then we found a T who really understood their job was to keep us going and out of the hospital. She helped us work on stuff but wasn't stupid about what it takes to have a life. If your T isn't someone your parts can trust to really help and not just stress everybody out then your parts are doing their job by getting you out of there.

Just my ideas.

"Let's just totally mess up your mind until you lose everything" is something I think about sometimes. From what I know there are different memories stored in different compartments, like a file cabinet. Having someone open up one of those compartments and try to force the wrong file into another compartment can cause everything to spill out. And it's a pain to clean up the mess.

Of course this is a metaphor. I wasn't there when it happened, but like in the original post, we've already seemed to have someone who spilled the files out from one compartment, and that was without opening any of the other compartments. I don't want a bad therapist to mess my own "compartment" up.

Hi,

OK so we did some of the 'take stuff out of the compartments' therapy. It was hard and pretty awful. But our T wouldn't let us go too fast and we had to journal ALL THE TIME. She was like keeping us out of the hospital. Also some of the other alters would keep life going while someone else figured things out. Helps to be multiple :D
