Not having any younger parts?

Postby Flamebound » Wed Feb 14, 2024 3:23 am

Hey I'm new to the forums so I apologize if my language, formatting or something goes wrong, ack.

I've been working (ish) with my system for three years now, and I've recently noticed that my system doesn't have anyone who is less than 12 years old. The majority of my system are teens, I think. I'm fairly certain I know of all of my system at this point, so I doubt anyone's hiding away. Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone's heard of this before. Yall's experiences or thoughts are very welcome! have a great day!

Hello and welcome! List of ressources in my signature if needed.

Not every system has child parts. The identities of your parts are exactly what you need them to be at any point in time. If your need changes, their identities evolve. Coz, that's life, to change and evolve with time, after all.

Anyway, if your system does not need any identity under 12, you won't have any. And if one day you need a young child identity to express something, they'll appear. And if you don't, they won't.

I know it's very "Captain Obvious" but sometimes we need the obvious to be written in full letters for things to really sink in.

You have the identities that you need. Just exactly that. No more, no less. And it'ts okay if you don't need any youg child among them. You need what you need, no more no less.

I relate, I've known my system for seven years and we only have one child part (~4 yrs old). after that it's teens and up.

I agree with ArbreMonde, you have what you need. even if it seems less common than other people, there is an infinite variety of configurations for those of us who are multiple.. this is just yours :)

Welcome!

As Arbre pointed out: you have what you need.

In my case, there's only 3 of us currently and as far as I've been informed by Kay there's been a maximum of five at one time. None of them have ever been a little except for me. Kay has been with me through childhood and she's never been a little and now she's my age. Having a little definitely isn't a must for you to classify as DID or similar.

Thank you all for your words! Sometimes I forget that I have all the parts that I need. I'll keep that in mind that's it's ok. I appreciate your responses! Have a great day
