When strange things happen..

Postby Western » Sun Oct 01, 2023 5:21 pm

There's something I struggle with. It's when strange things happen that I can't possibly have done but there are no other logical explanations for.

It doesn't happen often. It's just every now and then and not even on a regular basis.

It can be something quite simple. For instance something can fall on the floor, there's only me in the house but the thing that falls on the floor magically appears back in the place where it fell from. I have absolutely no recollection of picking it up off the floor and putting it back and no one was there. Therefore it can only have been me.

Also there was a strange incident where I was in contact by text and phone with a particular person. I had their number stored in my phone. But my phone kept (seemingly) turning itself off and on all the time and I kept getting like a voice telling me to delete this person's number. As soon as I deleted the person's number my phone stopped turning off and on. Now I have absolutely no recollection of turning my phone off and on myself (and it was pretty constant) but there is no other explanation as to how this would have occurred (the person in question did turn out to be dangerous to me).

Does this kind of thing happen with anyone else.

I used to think it was some kind of magic but now I'm thinking it's to do with dissociation.

That's happened to us too, but it's been rarer these days. One instance is that a person that is friends with our sister friended us on FB, but those of us who normally front have no recollection of actually accepting that request, and a few other instances like that. We've had to check with our dad a few times if he had done something and if he didn't but it did happen, we just assume it was either one of us who did it or our autism/ADHD just forgot we did it.

But yes, sometimes we sit there and try to remember if any of us did something in particular. We don't have it happen often, but it does happen.

Take care,
Lilith

Sometimes alters try to protect us (in an adapted or maladapted way) while causing amnesia about what they did. It eases up with integration as the system as a whole is better able to communicate and discuss together what are the best courses of action.

Though I totally understand how puzzling this kind of things can be when we do not realize we had amnesia on something!

our last full time host in our 40's (Maddie) started to experience this after Kit had started coming out more often. After our old dog died Maddie struggled even more so Kit was coming out more to help as we still had our current dog (then much younger and needing 2-3 walks a day and lots of training) but this resulted in Maddie eventually starting to notice and worrying she had dementia.

Unfortunately Maddie just seem to slowly fall apart,we had no awareness of DID at the time and though Kit knew we had autism Maddie would never acknowledge it as she was effectively our 'social mask'. Kit knew of Bobby and the Inner world they had created and found this forum when originally looking up Maladaptive Daydreaming. Then others starting emerging in response to hormonal swings and a medical emergency pushing everyone to the front.

We don't experience it so much now everyone knows about each other

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all your help with your responses.

I guess I'm just feeling overwhelmed with it all just lately because I'm only just accepting that I have this dissociative disorder and everything in my life has started to make sense all of a sudden.

It's a lot to take on board for me. I only realised that the dissociation is trauma related last week and since then everything has just all pieced together. So please be patient if I seem to be asking a lot of questions.

But thank you all again. You're very kind.
