My shrink thinks it's a good idea for me to relive a certain part of my life through hypnosis. I have heard only bad things about going under.
Does anyone have any input on this type of therapy??

They brainwash you and try force intergration. All your memories from that day and before are ######6 gone. And for a while, everything is fine. Then the knot comes undone and you're multiple again. Only now you're multiple with no ######6 memories of why you're multiple. Don't do it.

I don't think that everyone does what happened to Bates, but I would be awfully sure I trust that person before allowing them to dig around in my memories. I think that most people believe that alters will show you what you are ready to know bit by bit. Rushing it might not help matters.

P.S. I'm not a shrink.

If you take it all in one shot, you'll have a nervous breakdown and go into a state of shock. Or even just straight up kill yourself. Just a word of warning from a being much older and more experienced than anyone here.

Hypnosis is not a good idea, it doesn't work and doesn't do anything. They try to get information out of you by suggestion creating false memories. I wouldn't do it. It's pretty much worthless.

I do not think hynosis is good for anyone much less someone with DID. I have been reading about EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and know someone who had that therapy and she said it was amazing. It uses rapid eye movement to help deal with memories and she is like a new person after the treatment. I think I would go that route if I was choosing a treatment. Just no hypnosis. The therapist might make you forget certain parts of your life that you do not want to forget. I definitely would not do it.

I really don't think it is a good idea. Especially for those of us with DID. That is an old way of treating DID, and really it is uncalled for because as said above the memories will come to you when you are ready to handle them.

The Consensus Is IN:
It's a BIG NEGATIVE on the hypnosis thing. I didn't want to in the first place, but I thought if it would help.....
I honestly think the Mind Nazi just wanted to spice up his day with a bit of the ###$ up pieces of DaRk. I hate him
Thanks so much for your replies
