Visual Issues.

Postby ViTheta » Sat Oct 22, 2022 5:04 pm

Okay, I wanted to put this separate since it is kind of a technical issue.

Today, I noticed that when Gia comes to the front, it's like there is this slight lag in the vision of my right eye. As much as I know that I'm co-conscious and co-front quite often with the bulk of the system, I don't know a lot about what that means other than sharing a large corner of the 'here and now' with most of the other alters in the system. Usually when I co-front with someone, it's like the world gets slightly staticky, but not with Gia. Just this slight lag which can produce a headache if it goes on too long. Gia's our littlest Little, so I don't know if that has an impact.

So, two questions really...does this make some measure of sense? Can different alters co-fronting produce different sensations from each other?

Yes, some alters process sensory input differently from the rest. Some persons can go blind when some alter fronts, as an example.

Thank you. I think I realized that, but when I've tried researching the subject, most of the descriptions didn't really make sense and may have been too complex.

Studies have proven that some alters have a different physiology than others, as in parts of the body create very different readings depending on who is fronting. The example of some alters being blind while others can see is probably the most extreme example but these situations are real.

In our system vision has been one of the most noticeable effects on each other over the last decade. As we've all moved closer together, becoming fully co-conscious and many communicating sort of automatically internally, our overall vision has actually improved. For the younger alters whose vision was considerably better, theirs has gotten worse.

We adults used to need glasses for a lot of things but we've rarely used them the past couple years, a real surprise. We're not sure if this is all related to DID but some of it is.

In the past some of our young alters co-fronting, being near the front, or having just fronted would create a range of effects, for example, a normal dizziness or maybe an abnormal "off" vision without any physical feeling of dizziness.

We've gotten headaches from all sorts of DID-related mismatches, but especially confusion or conflict over who is fronting or who gets to front. We've had body discomfort after someone with high energy fronts, as if the stress on the body isn't noticed (or isn't there?) when one alter is out, but it's very obvious to someone following them. An adult might have no problem wearing a full backpack but a little coming out will feel so weighted down and uncomfortable, they won't stay out front.

Thank you. I've started taking notes regarding who has what, and it's usually the ones who aren't as co-conscious as some of us are that have the biggest differences in physical sensation. Today, when Queen co-fronted, it was like her eyes were trying hard to see everything and it created a snowy effect in our vision, but the sensations in our mouth when she was there were muted (so we could get through the dental appointment). Queen is co-conscious with us, but she's also someone who rarely co-fronts as she's primarily our gatekeeper. I've noticed that, for instance, when Gia is co-fronting, certain foods burst with flavor, but not when someone else is co-fronting.

It's strange, but at least now that I know what's going on, I can stop going 'I wonder what's going on'.
