Various members of our system have actually had this discussion with our T about the issue of schizophrenia. For a long time, our various hosts (Beth, Bri, Vi) had been told about how schizophrenia runs in the family, so we were terrified to tell any therapists about the inner dialogues. In fact, we hid the whole idea of DID from ourselves because of the need to keep that hidden. For a long time, we just thought that they were intrusive thoughts.

My two main alters who front have a similar affect and so most people can't tell the difference. They just think I'm in a radically different mood. However I have been struggling with my alter Lucas. He talks in a deeper voice and uses a lot of profanity, talks about inappropriate things and overall causes trouble for me. When he switches out I have to go into damage control mode. When this happens I pretty much retreat into my room and put the covers over my head for days until it blows over.
I don't have a great solution but just know that you are not alone in theses kinds of struggles. Often it forces us to get creative!
