Our Journey Thread

Postby TheCovenSystem » Wed Aug 24, 2022 11:04 am

We figured we would do one of these so we can have something to physically look back at, but also in case it helps others. One thing we’ve experienced is headmates morphing when we address trauma and changing inner world entirely.

Six months ago, we finally discovered we weren’t experiencing minor seizures like our doctor thought and instead was panicking when we dissociated and were making it where no one could front. We discovered this from the voices of each other, plus our actual recorded switched states when we relaxed more and allowed it to happen.

We spoke with our doctor, in which we were told to monitor these symptoms more. Journaling, mood journal, recording when we became who, when. And through a grueling four months that blurred by, we finally started to get ahold of things.

A little bit about us before we go forward; Because our system was so covert for so long and blocked by our host panicking, we never really got to discover more of who we were until we began to relax. Because of that, a lot of who we are is more inspired by fiction, which our doctor believes is a quick way to conveniently fill in gaps which we can relate to.

Once we were on this track of working with our doctor, it was another two closely monitored months (6 months all together) before she finally dropped the words DID in session. We had suspected, but hearing it really solidified things. It’s strangely helped us, while we feel a little whiplashed, to also feel more grounded and secure with each other.

Which goes onto the morphs that happened from healing:

Anyway. First, one of our headmates, Annika, managed to age by about ten years (went from 16 to about 32) after we came to terms with some trauma. And then the same happened about a week later, a chain reaction of addressing trauma, where one of the headmates (me lol), Henry, made the peaceful transition from living human to ghost in the headspace.

It’s been a blur and we’re still learning to work with each other. We have lost tracks of time, so 6 months is about an estimate and still isn’t the full time we were working with this doctor, only the period that covered when we began to suspect something different was going on, plus working hard to uncover what it was.

And there. That’s the short and sweet of so far.

Thanks for coming to our TedTalk

Hi

You seem to have two identical posts..wasn't sure which one to comment on! :D Welcome anyway.

Years ago before our fronting host had an understanding of dissociation we were thought to be having some kind of Temporal lobe partial seizures as they would 'wake up' and find themselves somewhere but have no memory of getting there. we were put to epilepsy meds then the insiders were unable to 'slip out' for a few years until the host forgot to take them for a several days in a row.

One of us mods must have goofed. It's fixed, other one locked and a link to this one, no problems.

Yes, this is exactly what we experienced! A perfect and even better way of putting it, to the point where our doctor put us on anti-seizure medication to help, which might I say, made us quite wired. This is so relieving to find that there’s someone else who’s gone through what we’ve experienced, bringing some normalcy to our story.

I used to think I had partial seizures too, but I had an epilepsy test made (electrodes put on my head and lights flashed into my eyes) and it turned negative and the doctor did not pursue.

Also with ADHD atop of it, it does not help keeping track of the day

I am happy for you that you finally learnt about dissociation and that it is what happens to you. It is always better when you know the proper diagnosis and apply the proper treatment!

I'm glad you figured out the nature of your seizures. I hadn't thought about those as being part of the whole situation associated with DID.

I don't remember us being tested at the time..at all! We were at university at the time, where it had its own doctors surgery. I think they asked 'Thea' if they'd had them before and they must have mentioned the fact that we'd had them in early childhood and been put on phenobarbitone for years and they just seemed to put us straight back on them but a newer medication, somehow we ended up back on a dose of both Sabril and Epilim - 1 x 500mg tablet of each I think for while but I (Yuna) can't remember how or why now. Seems quite high but we were in the last year of university at the time and trying to complete a degree.

From Kit's memories of a period where we were in an autism unit later they only remember having to take one purple pill (Epilim) and once they'd managed to get out into our own flat they stopped taking them completely. 'Maddie' evolved shortly after the following year after another 'neurological incident' left us back in hospital then social media presence meant she was out everyday for most of the time for the next 10 years. I don't know if they're connected it never occurred to us before until just seeing it typed out!

Yes we were also put on some but we had an history of seizures in childhood, we were never told we had Multiple Personalities (as it would have been called back then I think ..it was about 25 years ago). They were just assumed to be seizures from the stress of exams and final year of university. And we didn't have access to the internet back then to check with 'Dr Google'! :D

We were fortunate enough to not need the help of ‘Dr. Google’, as it were, but have a friend who specializes in dissociative disorders from their college studies. Confiding in them was a great deal of help over what we were experiencing.
