So if you ever wondered about the difference between a persecutor and a protector Gerald's Game is a good film. The protagonist and victim of the film finds herself in a situation that triggers her DID the protagonist like most hosts is in denial both about the current trauma and past trauma. Her alters are a mix of self images and introjects.
The persecutor and protector try to help the host out of the current situation in classic protector/persicutor style.
Be warned there is sexualy traumatic scenes, risk of death and *spoilers*

I read the book... I didn't catch the D.I.D. aspect. Either that, or the movie added that to make it intersting.

I've heard of it, but I'm a little scared to watch it. I am considering watching the series MoonKnight. The comic books didn't have him having DID, but they've supposedly rebranded him to have DID. I would hope Marvel would do research but I'm scared to watch it.

i didn't see that either. i only watched part of the movie, and i just thought it was hallucinating and/or psychosis from the present trauma, not DID.

It turns out the "hallucinations" have been living inside of her since a sa at the age of 12 (a bit old for did but they tried) at the end of the movie, years after she has healed from the adult trauma, you see the host returning to her innerworld to comfort the little that has been trapped.
The dynamic throughout the film is I suppose more osdd than did in that there is no physical switching just influencing but they have distinct personalities. I'm not to hot on where did starts and osdd stops.

I won't watch it. The book was boring as hell and I just couldn't get into it. I think I gave up halfway through.

It sounds like the movie people tried to add extra stuff to make it more intersting. *smh*

trailer was a bit too scary for me. basically got to the bed hand cuff scenes and that guy is creepy as heck.. anyways, i would like the idea of a movie exploring those themes esp since i think i am more osdd. but yeah.

It would be nice if someone would make a film of living with REAL Dissociative disorder on a daily basis.
.
Today I was at a recovery meeting; just thinking about the future; and this triggering my thoughts and thus; my whole system was taken over by 5 different time periods. And that is real DID. When I cant use my mind; its been hijacked by long term PTSD at severe levels; and there it is......
.
Today; I attempt to use several different positive thinking; success thinking techniques to teach my thinking to focus on what I want it to focus on; learning how to take my mind back to focus on success for my future; to be able to break through the PTSD and fear with whole new stories of what I want to become; things that make me feel good; and visualize them in first person point of view; all very hard work; grueling when Im battling through dissociative disorder. Im physically shaking like a bank can mixer when Im getting triggered at high levels...
.
Im interested in goals today.
Dissociative Disorder
CPTSD
AVPD; Social avoidance
Previous/Psychotic clinical Depression
agoraphobia
obsessive/compulsive disorder
Evolution didn't stop my death, God did .....Now what?

Omnicell sorry you are having a bad time hang in there.
Spinning Topps yeah its one only our ex-persecutor can handle you have to be ok with saw level gore and tension really. But it is I believe one that could be used in educating people towards understanding did as it portrays it for what it is. A coping mechanism of a victim of abuse.

"Busy Inside" is the only one we've been able to watch:
https://www.amdoc.org/watch/busy-inside/It's a documentary about real people with DID, and it doesn't sensationalize or dramatize anything. We were able to tolerate seeing what a fronting little looks like--it wasn't as weird as we worried it would be.
