My girlfriend has 14 alters but one alter in particular has recently switched between 2 separate identities and appears to be able to go between them at will. Its as if the alter has its own form of DID. I have searched for similar instances of this with no luck but perhaps I didn't use the correct terms while searching. Has anyone else come across something like this?

It is called a "sub-system".
It can form when one dissociated part has a few different "forms", when different fragments gather together under the same "umbrella", when fusions or splits are in progress, when one alter age-slides (each age being a different sub-alter from the syb-system), etc.

There is one like that in here.
Could both be unco -con with each other? Like, with too much pain, the other comes out?
