Questions about littles...

Postby playsimo » Wed Apr 14, 2021 10:50 pm

Hi... it's been quite some time since i registered on this website and posted something... but i found out i had this disorder almost 2 years ago and it's been really hard.. i'm still trying to accept this and it's not easy... i'm here this late at night because i have problems with sleeping... i m the host, my name is Simone... i just wanted to ask a question about littles... i do understand that as of now i have 2 parts of me that are very young... i'm 26 yo now and these parts are 6 and 8 yo... the thing is i know that there is another part of me that is essentially me... but it's me 15 years younger and i quite don't understand this... i can talk to specific parts of me only when they are really close to come out or on certain occasions but they can't give me an answer... my therapist couldn't explain it to me as well as i wished... so i'm asking here... if you have a part like that how does it work for you? Because when this part comes out i can't remember anything after (this happens almost everytime with any part that fronts) but sometimes i can remember some things that he or she did.. but when this part comes out i can't remember anything...
sorry for my english i'm not used to type it or speak it i usually just listen...
thank you and i hope you are doing better than me right now

You're saying that you have a part who is 11 years old, and when they front, it's a complete blackout switch for you, because you don't remember anything about what happened during that time?

That's not any special kind of alter, even if it is "you" when you were 11. If all of your alters were only versions of you at different ages, then you might get an OSDD 1a diagnosis, but if some alters are different, then that meets DID criteria, so it doesn't matter that some of them are versions of you.

If you want to improve communication with her so that you can find out what happens when she's fronting, you can trying journaling with her, or leaving notes for her.

I'm sorry you're not doing well. Sometimes there are alters who won't let the body sleep because they didn't get enough time during the day to do what they wanted, so they keep the body up, hoping to get their needs met. That happens to us a lot. :(

as i said i found out i had this disorder almost 2 years ago and i still don't know much about it this particualar little is basically me regressing if i understood this correctly... i thought he was a different kind of alter because the other 2 littles are very different and have different names but this 1 answer to my name... usually there are me and another alter fronting during the day at work and yeah the others don't get to have much time out and this causes them to come out at night especially the littles... do you have any suggestions about this? because if i'm working i can't leave just to get out and get an icecream cuz one of the littles want one... i don't really know what to do at this point and here in italy this disorder is not very known... right now i'm with a new therapist she's seems nice and understanding but basically i'm the first case of DiD she ever had... and since DiD is so complex and different with each case i don't think she has the experience to really help me...

If your therapist is interested in increasing her knowledge so that she can better help you, the ISSTD has online courses for therapists: https://www.isst-d.org/training-and-con ... criptions/

Some people make time for their littles on the weekends, or in the evenings. You don't have to leave work to get an ice cream, but you can promise the little that you'll get some on the weekend, and then be sure to follow through. You can also spend a few hours on the weekends letting them do activities that they like. That might help a lot with the sleep issue. Also having a bedtime routine that includes something the littles like (maybe a YouTube read aloud of a kids' book--mine really like Goodnight Moon narrated by Susan Sarandon).

If you were regressing, you would stay aware of what was happening. The fact that you have blackout switches when that little takes over means that they are separate from you, but they can certainly be a version of you at a younger age.

Hi Simone,

Glad you wrote to us. We made a really good place inside for the Littles to hang out when Host is working. They like it because it's safe and Host likes it because he gets to work. It's like daycare for Littles. You have to explain it to them though so you have to learn to talk to each other.

Iain

Also you can help your Littles type on the Littles thread and maybe that will help them.
Iain - 14, Colin - 17, Evan - 7, Cody - 16, & Host - the adult out front

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?
