Issue with dissociative barriers

Postby birdsong87 » Wed Mar 24, 2021 2:05 pm

Our T is unavailable for a couple more days. not happy.
if anyone had a qualified idea...

L is struggling with her perception of reality. it looks almost psychotic.
when we analyzed her experiences we found a pattern that hints at other parts being the cause of this.
like intense intrusions where realities of different parts blend together.
eg. her not being able to tell if she is herself or her mother when intruded on by a mother introject.
Just imagining to raise the barriers isn't working. she can't put a clear sentence together she is so confused. The parts that get blended all seem to be from the group further away from the core team, parts who rarely show up that we have little to no communication with.
I am at a loss.
I can keep up daily life but I suck at noticing needs or managing a system. with every day that passes we are losing more balance. and the ######6 T is not available.

I'm not sure what it specifically means that you're losing balance--is that a disruption in getting basic needs met because you're (Asti) focusing on chores and productivity?

Can you just get back to basics for a day or two? Like making a meal plan, scheduling time for calming activities for the littles, getting outside for a walk for some sunshine and exercise. (I know you know all of these things, so you're probably asking for something beyond this.)

It sounds like someone(s) is(are) still confused by having been addressed by the mother's name in that email--as if they believe that being called that has somehow turned you into her. Maybe writing down basic explanations would reach them. "We are not Mrs. [Lastname]. We are [your name]."

Maybe walk around and look at different objects and show them that calling them by a different name doesn't change what they are. Like, "See this table? I am going to call it a chair. Did it change into a chair when I called it that?" (These are just random ideas I'm coming up with in case one of them is helpful...)

I hope you can hang on without things getting too much worse before you see the T again.

the issue has been existing for longer than that email. I was actually asking for help with it when we got that response back and some got triggered even more. it is also a shifting problem. It is not always the same part that blends with L. I just gave an example of the mother introject because that made it so clear for us. her perception of reality is deeply influenced. as I said, I first thought it was psychosis. Orientation and naming things don't reach that mixed reality. There is only confusion.

I am not good at being host for too long, burn too much energy, cause us pain, forget about needs.... that is why I want a solution for this as soon as possible. this has been going on for a week. Not sure if waiting it out is enough

Are there any other parts close to L.? I was thinking maybe they could act as a possible barrier/protector of L.

Somehow I'm mainly thinking of imagery stuff today, so maybe it doesn't work, but I was thinking maybe acting out the process of "unblending" could be helpful, e.g. mixing two colours of stones and picking them apart; or using body work stuff, e.g. by "leaving" the other parts in a different room in the house for now.

Another option could be thinking about what the part(s) would be trying to tell you. Is it that they are reliving things? Or that they are very disoriented? Can there be inner world stuff built around L., so that these parts can be soothed?

Is there anything so far that you've tried that seemed to work, even if only a tiny tiny bit?

Hi Asti,

We're sorry that you've been struggling with this. Charity has been going through something that is in some ways similar, and we're frustrated that we can't find a way to resolve it.

Wish we could be more helpful.

We are waiting it out. We asked in every DID community we know and didn't find a solution anywhere. We will see if our T knows what to do, when she graciously allows us to take up her time.
