Can you always be co-present/ rarely not fronting

Postby Purpleunicorn » Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:03 pm

Honestly, I'm really confused as to wether I'm just imagining things or wether I might have DID, but I'm really unsure.
I often have periods where I don't feel like I'm in control, kind of like I'm watching myself doing things, but I can't control what it is I'm doing, and other periods where I don't have any recollection of what has happened, but because it's often with friends, I just laugh it off.
I'm honestly not sure what I want from this, but maybe I'll feel better after posting here.
Thanks.

Wecome, Purpleunicorn! Describing what you experience and seeing what kind of feedback you get is a good way to engage with this forum.

Nearly everyone with DID has the experience at first of concern that they're making it up, imagining it, letting their imagination run wild, talking themselves into having it, etc. etc. None of those prove that you have DID but it's a fact that those doubts are completely consistent with people who first become aware that they have DID.

If you're "losing time" consistently in any situation, even positive ones, that's not nothing. Just sayin
Dx = DID. My blog. My personal Periodic Table of 78 alters.

Hi!

This happens to my system quite a lot, especially because we are sort of in denial and I (Lily) am very very controlling and don't like the sensation of dissociating so I used to force myself a lot.
I guess co-presence can be quite normal and, in my case, for example, brought me to believe that I might have OSDD1-b instead of """"proper""""" DID (proper is really not the right word for it but I cannot think of a more functioning one right now).

For the "imagining things" part, please don't worry and try not to be so hard with yourself! This is a big realisation step, don't underestimate the knowledge you have of yourself, nobody knows yourself as you do.
