Postby Rive » Wed Oct 23, 2019 12:15 am

I have noticed when I feel down and sad or tired I dont hear my alters much. When I am hyper I hear them alot. Is it normal fir moods ti effect your alters?

For us, yes definitely. There is so much leakage of emotions that I'd say it's impossible for any of us to feel happy if any one of us is actively feeling sad and vice versa. The best we can do is a kind of detachment from it all.

We're all in the same body and there's some degree of flow among almost everybody, as far as we know, though I can't identify what it is that's flowing. Plus even the grumps have a general compassion for others here.

For us I think its the other way around. Our alters affect our moods. If someone inside is feeling scared, we feel it too. If they're sad, we feel sad.

We may not know why we feel scared, or sad, or whatever. Usually when that's the case, it turns out we're being affected from inside.

I agree with Viola, at least in our system. Sometimes the moods of the littles affects me. Especially if they get overexcited, I can get hyper. If something has happened inside, for example, a new alter, or restructuring, it can make me feel restless.

I haven't noticed that mood effects communication.

There are alters that are low in mood often. Alters who are more enthusiastic. Alters that are basically indifferent. Paul seemed to have all the rage. I don't know what's going on with that since the rage consumed him caused body pain, was seen internally as a raging fire and then roughly 40 torches rose out of the darkness taking the raging fire. The main internal world is scorched to the ground. The people are smoke singed. Externally I'm doing my best to chill out and relax but it's difficult. On that day there was chatter "I'm not Laura" "we can't get our nails painted" "f off yes we can" but since then it's been very quiet.

My mood is even, neutral, but tainted with a small amount of anxiety but it's not inhibiting me to do daily life.

So maybe different alters moods effect things, effect communication, effect the inner world.. they do or all wouldn't be scorched with people wandering around a wreckage. The central castle is ok I think..

Our system sounds more like team Amythyst on this.

Many times lately I have had a hard time figuring out why all of the sudden I feel a certain way. We go to T or someone will journal and it seems I am getting leakage of emotions through them.

Part of it may be we are working really hard on communication. There are a few Littles who are mute and I am learning to know when they are close to front or they may need something by how things feel.

Not quite like that for us... but they CAN influence my mood or me theirs. If I have a nightmare or two and feel really "bummed out" or something, that can "bleed over" to them and put a bit of a downer on them... Or if one of them are really really excited or happy, I can sometimes find myself more energetic or "giddy" for no reason...

It's more of a "my very very close friend or family member is feeling... so I feel, too" kind of thing.

I've never had a direct correlation to "I feel bad, so I have them around less/hear them less" sort of thing. Their presence and activity seems to be regardless of my mood (though sometimes if I'm overwhelmed or upset enough someone else takes over to let me have time to get back to more of a leveled out "normal" state- but this isn't unusual... it's just how DID works, right?).

Thanks guys. I asked thos because it makes me wonder if the thoughts (alters talking is just part of a manic thing and not DID). Instead of making a new thread I wanted to know about something else that makes me wonder if its really DID I have. I was thinking today about something my ex may have said to my therapist that I wouldn't want him to. That makes me nervous and when I'm nervous I get the thoughts more and they can be repetitive. So I'm thinking about what he may have said to her and the thought popped up Mommy, I go sleepy in a child's tone followed by Yes. I am not their Mommy so why would I reply yes?
