Hi
I'm new to this forum and so grateful to have found you. I've only recently been told that my Hubby has symptoms of DID by a Psychotherapist and it's hard to get my head around. We've been married for decades lol and I've never exactly known why he was acting like he does but now it all falls into place. I'm looking forward to chatting with people in a similar situation and becoming more familiar with DID.

Hello, welcome aboard! We hope that you'll find this forum interesting.

If you want some reading to do, http://did-research.org/ is more based upon medical reports with lots of sources to read if you feel like diggin into their sources; it focuses more on what causes DID.

Don't hesitate to dig up stuff on the forum too!

Hi. Similar to what you mention, SF was surprised at how quickly I accepted her diagnosis. After I met a couple and then recognized Meg as being another, I realized that DID made more sense than anything else to describe my wife.

(EX: SF was relatively emotionless and didn't want affection when doing chores. Found out it was mostly Meg doing the chores and didn't want affection. Now that I know her, she appreciates that I respect her boundaries, but also appreciates the occasional hug etc.)

Hi and welcome. I think some moderator said one time that SOs aren't supposed to post in here, that there's separate area for SOs. I understood it's for any mental disorder, so there's no specific place to SOs of DID systems. I actually didn't know that before, sometimes we have people in here asking about their loved one's disorder or how to cope with something and we do help them. Usually that's not a problem, I like it much better if you ask from here than anywhere else, except system you're living with of course. They're welcome in here too. DID is not well known, even professionals don't understand it, there's a lot to it and it's complex. Learning the basics of it helps a lot.

If you like watching videos, there are two YouTube channels we recommend. MultiplicityAndMe is one of them, they have worked as a system for a long time and do well in life. It's kind of the whole point of their channel, to show there's still life with DID, it's not just hospitals, therapy and medications. Jess, their host personality is also psychologist.

Another one well respected is DissociaDID. Sadly their videos are with click bate names that make it look very unprofessional, their vids can be called something like 8 switches in one video! or something similar. I hate that, it's for the views from people who come to look for freak show, but their content is still good. Now they're dating with another system, I haven't watched their newest videos, some of them were too much kisses and hugs and that kind of stuff for me so I got bored, but for example their Debunking myths -series is worth to watch.

There are many other sources too. It's definitely easier to understand how to react to symptoms, when you understand what they are about, and what parts are about. We, people with the disorder, use those sources too, to understand ourselves and how to deal with living in a system.

Thanks so much for the welcome and links. Not wanting to get it wrong, if I have questions for partners of people with DID (obviously being respectful), could you clarify which section do I post in please.

Wow, you summed up my thoughts on those two channels pretty well. DissociaDID is alright, but not as professional as Jess from Multiplicity and Me (worth noting, too, that she's got a degree in Psychology and a post-grad cert. in psychotherapy and counseling- she's living it AND she's got formal education training in it).
My T has seen a few of Jess's videos and said they are very well informed, educated, and presented. HE follows her stuff to see what she posts now, b/c it's that legitimately worth seeing... so that's something. :)

And, Lfs, welcome to the forum! :) Hope we can be of some help for you!
