**Trigger Warning** body memories

Postby Sarandipity » Sun Oct 06, 2019 6:34 am

I was reading about ANP and EP and realised alot of my parts are mixed except the fragments I guess and the cloud of "hurting and killing myself" and Jealousy was a whole seperate entity so I guess an EP which I've been sort of integrating I guess - allowing myself to feel it rather than it living as a seperate entity suppressed somewhere.

Then I went to sleep and when I woke up I was having body memories. I have had body memories when I've been in psychiatric hospital but back then, I was about 20 when it was really bad, I thought it was me being "crazy" and didn't realize it was body memory.

Then when I had therapy at about age 27 I had body memories as I remembered what my uncle did and realised it was my body remembering what happened as I consciously remembered the incident - so that kind of made sense and I realised what was happening.

This morning I got a bit tearful and upset because I can't put these body memories to anything specific and couldn't stop them. So I read this PTSD page and they said allow the memory and remind yourself that you're not in that situation any more - which to my shock as soon as I reminded myself I'm not in that situation anymore (even though I don't know specifically what incident the body memory was coming from) it stopped. Then another one started and I did the same thing - this time they said "what?" So I repeated myself "I'm not in that situation anymore" and that body memory stopped. So it worked to do that.

I'm wondering once a body memory is acknowledged, and one of them was definitely linked to a part or fragment that could ask "what?" Do they stop or go away or integrate into a more complex part? Or do they just come sometimes and then go and then resurface? I'm guessing everyone is different but I wondered how it's worked for othets here?

With the memory and body memory of what happened with my uncle I can recall what happened if I think about it but it doesn't trigger off a body memory or the body memory doesn't happen because of recalling it, it was a really intense horrible body memory as I remembered the incident for the first time, also like a flashback (like all of it at once) but these are different, they are just body memories and I don't know what they relate to so I'm thinking possibly they could come and go.
