Some people, after a breakup or similar event, go across the world for some spiritual retreat. I only had the budget for something geographically close to me and for a few days only. So I went to a "build your own shamanic drum" workshop. It was nice. Good quality of products, good craftsmanship from the organizers. It was nice to slow things down for a few days. I was able to experience being part of a group physically while still feeling safe.

Spiritually it was nice too. The transe with drums was a nice experience, very different in person compared to recorded drums. It felt very integrative. I understand better why Corine Sombrun works with the ISSTD and her experience of transe for the therapy of trauma and dissociation.

Apparently my drum has something to do with Thor, Sif and the Alfs (Elves). If someone has references I can read on a possible mythological connexion between the couple Thor/Sif and the Alfs, do not hesitate to share, I am intellectually curious about it. I am still keeping grounded into my own internal experience of it which is different from the Thor/Sif/Elves, but I like to understand other persons' reasonning and the workshop was too short to allow for in-depth conversations on the subject.

I found the Thor/Elves connexion. In the Prose Edda, Thor's servant is named Thjalfi, and "alf" means "elf", causing some people to think of him and his family as elves. I learnt a lot about nordic mythology in the process, it was a nice change of mind.
