How I've understood it, diagnoses are never removed. Some doctor at some point saw symptoms they thought was something, if symptoms match enough with the dx they're thinking, they write it down. You can have new diagnoses, but old ones won't still be removed. At least that's how it is in my country.
I have been dx'd with BPD, which I don't think I have, and which is common misdiagnose for someone with DID. Actually majority of people with DID do have borderline symptoms, to the point of dx if tested, or at least score high. It doesn't still mean we have it, since it's just wrongly understood OSDD/DID then, many symptoms look the same. Now I have both dxs, OSDD and DID, and BPD is still there. So the fact it won't be taken off from your papers is normal and OK. What's important is that if they do any kind of treatments etc. they need to do it with what you actually have.
False BPD dx doesn't really matter, but schizophrenia is different, because it is treated pretty much the opposite ways than DID. I don't know what people with schizophrenia do in therapy for instance, but in every day life, it is very different if other parts are gonna be treated like people or if they are treated like they'd be delusion. On the other hand, if your others don't come out as themselves to the workers, but are seen more thru you, it doesn't matter as much. Still, medication etc. is very different, heavy anti psychotics are more of a problem than a solution to someone with DID, when with schizophrenia they totally help.
Some diagnoses are different, like depression. If you are once diagnosed with it, it doesn't mean you will always have it, but no one is gonna remove it from your papers if you once did have it. I guess it's more complicated with these disorders that are always long term.
Who is in charge of your treatment in the end? There can not be many different decision makers for you, or your treatment will be all over the place.
