Here is the video of the documentary talking about this (trigger warning of mild description of child sexual abuse) : https://youtu.be/lsXFcbPbvI4
I saw the video via a video by the Entropy System:https://youtu.be/8nUWRwDYayk (this one is a trigger free summary)
A DID system in Australia took their abuser father to the court and won their case. It took decades of hard work. They studied psychology and law for the case, their psychiatrist and the investigator they went to with all of their testimonies worked for years and years to make it happen.
Not only is this incredibly inspiring for all of us struggling, it's also a precedent case, opening the door for a lot more systems to be able to get out there, make their case, and maybe - just maybe - break the stigma around this illness in the coming years.
Another thing about this documentary is the way they painted Jeni Haynes. They put her in such a light that shows how strong and determined she and her whole system is. They used all kinds of visual and narrative to show the real face of DID: that it's a brilliant, ingenius way for a child to survive trauma and keep on living.
For more information watch the videos probably. We're just really happy about this whole thing and it's such great news and it opens up so many possibilities for the future, for all of us. We're so proud of Jeni and her system, this obviously wasn't an easy thing to do. But thanks to their bravery so many things are possible for us with DID now. It won't be immidiate, these things take a lot of time. But there's now the hope that things might get better.
