Balancing healing

Postby sleepingwolf » Wed Mar 06, 2019 9:14 pm

Hey guys, I was wondering your thoughts on how you balance your life with 'healing' and 'recovering', and also just living a life as a person (I'm trying to avoid the word normal!)

Also, how do you guys balance being a multiple (DID), with just being a personality in the world who doesn't need to think about that stuff?

It's something we find hard...

Any thoughts most welcome.

Thanks guys!

Here's a thread I started about that, a little over a year ago:

dissociative-identity/topic202168.html?hilit=therapeutic%20work

It's difficult, but what I've found is that a little attention paid to parts (journaling, making a list of what everyone wants to do--and then trying to do it, etc), helps me just "live life," because no one is sabotaging things, and we don't feel as overwhelmed by our daily activities. So, I try to take some time to journal every few days, and I read on this forum most days. If random feelings are coming up, I try to think a little about where (who) they might be coming from and why.

- TheGangsAllHere - Thanks for the reply and the post link, that was super interesting to read! It's certainly given us something to think about...

I think we can find it hard to accept that trauma therapy will have an impact on our lives...dumb I know, but we can sometimes just try and carry on like 'everything should be fine too!'.

I think we need to be a bit more careful and considerate with our life now, and go at a pace that keeps our lives going well...and not just rushing to get it all out, or know everything...or whatever...
