3D vision

Quotation from another website "Several weeks into therapy, he reveals that he does not have depth perception—Daniel sees things only in two dimensions—but loves 3-D photography where he can actually see things with depth, looking at the pictures and seeing the 3-D patterns emerging. It's a strange presentation; clearly Daniel has the capacity for depth perception, so something other than an organic cause is interfering with this aspect of his vision."

Do you see real life as much 3D than 3D-pictures? Because to me the postcards with 3D pictures are fascinating, they are much more 3D than real life. But I have never suffered any problems with understanding depth. But on the other hand, I can estimate depth from 2D photos as well, from some things looking smaller. It means they are further away. Now I am totally confused about if I see life in 2D or 3D. If life is supposed to look like 3D movies and photos, then I see 2D.

Is it possible to see 2D without it causing any problems? My hands are bit clumsy, and if I do see 2D it would perfectly explain why. But it's not super bad, I don't drop things all the time because I thought table was closer or anything, but things like catching a ball for example.. I'm really not god at it, but on the other hand I'm not good at throwing the ball either, so I don't know. I am not good at estimating anything. It's very hard for me to estimate time, distance, weight etc. from my own experience, like walking that distance or lifting that weight. I don't think my ability to see is worse than my ability to estimate other things, I'm not good at any of that. But if I took a 2D picture and 3D picture and look at them compared to world around me, what I see is closer to 2D photo.

I have always thought that it is because 3D pictures aren't that developed yet, so they kind of look obviously fake, same way than special effects in old movies. You can tell they are not for real.

How do you see?
