We have a smaller system than yours but also have at least 3 sexual alters, one of whom is a lot more active at certain times during our menstrual cycle. We've noticed that certain non-sexual alters are also more likely to come out during certain other times during the cycle.
The sexual alter who is most active and activated is generally a pleasure-seeker and sometimes really good sensory experiences help enough, like dark chocolate, adorning the body in rich colors and makeup, or dancing. There are probably non-sexual activities that whoever is fronting or these parts specifically can engage in that will alleviate other needs while those aren't an option.

I don't know if that's common specifically, but passively using creative devices from external world stuff we've been exposed to (including all forms of media) is pretty much how all of this works. If you meet someone who has qualities you would benefit from to survive, you may form a part like them. If you need a part who can hide and you're exposed to the concept of chameleons, you may get a chameleon, but if you watch science fiction you might get a shape-shifter or a hologram, or if you read fantasy books then you might get a wizard who can cast spells on themselves to change appearance or to hide.
When you recognize that has happened, you can use that to communicate with that part. What are the mechanics of shadow parts in games? What motivates them, why are they formed, how can you find them in a game? At least some of that will probably have translated to your alter.
