Does anyone here have an alter called Jealousy?

Postby Sarandipity » Sat Feb 16, 2019 9:49 am

The twins (Trouble and Fortune) wondered. They saw an alter here called Bitterness, they said they saw Rage but he's called something else in his system and they wondered where Jealousy is - they expect Jealousy to be an alter in another system which is probably "psychotic" but I'm asking anyway. They do possibly think Jealousy is part of the guy I work with system but I can't ask him lol. I can ask here.

Also while I'm asking how many other, I can't think of the right word, "archaic" is the best word I can think of named parts are there here? Like "Time" or "Patience" or "Luck" although we saw a "Shamrock" who we'd see as "Luck" possibly. Or "Fire" (life force) or Fear or.. I could go on and on lol but hopefully you get the idea of types of alter names I mean.

We have ~Light~, who's part of an ageless, formless yin/yang tandem along with Gideon. The name Gideon means (TW, scroll over the blank area to read): "He who strikes down with repeated blows."

There is no one named Jealousy in our system, but we have had many parts who initially were identified by a name suggestive of their behavior, form, or function, like how Blanca was previously Blank Slate, because she was mostly devoid of emotion and interest and sat around doing nothing. We encourage those in our system who have this sort of name to take on a "name name" so to speak, to encourage growth beyond that with which they've been labeled. Doesn't have to be a human name as such, just identifiably not descriptive, when they're ready. Another in our system who did this still retains the old name as her second name because it was important to her to hold onto that, but she chose the human part of her name as part of new-found safety and growing up a few years.

I find it really interesting that it seems to be from reading here that there are parts with "archaic" or as said "labelling" names or "Aeon" names. It's like they're parts of what would be called "the collective unconscious" I have noticed a few but I haven't noticed duplicates yet of these names but they're must be duplicates, not everyone with DID is on this forum and I'm sure there's some duplication here I haven't noticed of these kind of deep subconsciously named parts. It would be interesting to get a kind of list of how many people with DID have such named parts and what duplications there are, if there's common themes - that type of thing. An actual study for pure learning not a way of treating.

Does anyone know if someone has conducted such a study relating to names of parts, themes and similar / dissimilar anonomolies?

Fourth-Born here.

Umm, No one named Jealousy here. I... Well, Bitterness, explained a bit about my system... The names you see are all made up. Shamrocks name is made-up too

From what I have read, people with DID are really good with metaphors. I'll admit to some loose metaphorical work in my names while resisting the collective unconscious idea.
Diagnosis DID-sometimes do not identify as anyone at all
Bitterness- 31 yrs old
Red- 26 yrs old
Fourth-Born- 31 yr old host
Shamrocks-21 yr old female

Whisper-female, ageless?

Yes maybe made up names but I still find it interesting of the similarities and differences.

Although I don't feel Karen or Batcho (Trouble) were made up. They definitely feel that they were just there. Batcho was my imaginary friend as a child. Karen announced herself at school one play time. Karen isn't a name I like and I have no idea where Batcho came from. I found out it means trouble. I only looked into the meaning as an adult when my mum told me how creeped out she was one day listening to the radio. My imaginary friend Batcho had to have a place at the table, I played with him every day and no one knew where I got his name from. My mum was listening to the radio one day and they were interviewing an elderly man called Batcho in another country, somewhere like the Ukraine, and it gave her a shiver. When she told me about that I decided to look up meanings of the name or word. It means Trouble in Romany Gypsy dialect. I have been nick named Trouble by people myself so I like to call him Trouble instead of Batcho as I feel more linked to that.

So I don't feel I made up all the names, some just came.

I think you're right about metaphors and also it seems people with DID are more "imaginative" generally.

There is none here called Jealousy, nor of the other names you mentioned, we identify those names as feelings. Emotions and as such there are no names like that among us. But that means there is nothing wrong with you having such names with you, in your inner world. The little in our inner world will express jealous emotion more than others. But, they can also be a spoiled child at times!

We do not think that our names are made up. We told Purple Haze our names. We hope our reply has helped at least in some way.

- Joker & Jester
Purple Haze (Host) / Autumn J (Main Alter) /Joker & Jester (Twin Alters)
**~~~***~~~**
Non-Adults: Radish (3) / Lorcan (5) / Ború (17)

More Alter names will be added if it becomes necessary.

I would take Joker and Jester to be such names. A Joker and a Jester is an archaic or Aeon symbol. "The fool" is also a tarot card, the symbolism of it is about stepping fool hardy but with success. Joker and Jester are very powerful subconscious forces imo.

I thought it when I read your response to my memory hooks thread but I didn't like to mention it there.

We don't have one named Jealousy.....but we do have ones with similar names (based on "emotions"). Rage, Gloom, Hope, Joy........there's also the Denier. A few more have similar names.

My one Protector is named Weirdo......but technically that is his nickname (he just prefers to use that over his real name. His real name is Ludwig.....but he tells everyone to call him Weirdo. He has his reasons for using his nickname.)

I think maybe Joker and Jester mis-understood where you were coming from. They did not make up their names, they told me their names. I think they think you meant did I give them their names. Though they are pranksters, so it's hard to tell. Though I believe they have been honest in this case.

I agree with you on your points regarding their names, even if they don't.
