anyone tried lamitrogine (Lamictal) ??

Postby BeccaBee » Thu Feb 14, 2019 8:39 pm

this is the standard treatment for vestibular migraines and it's been prescribed to me.

I know it's used as an anitconvulsant for seizures. and a mood stabilizer for BPD, and some off label efficacy for PTSD

but I am very curious if any of us DID'ers have tried it?

I'm already on some mentally thin ice after the December bender and don't need to go all whackadoodle off some shady ass med that nobody understands.

and yeah - I called my shrink guy to ask him. he will call.me back so I am seeking legit medical advice as well. just...y'all know some $#%^ too. so I'm checking here.

anybody ever tasted this $#%^?

Hello BeccaBee,
I don't think this will be very helpful.
I have been taking Lamictal for bipolar type 2 for years now, about 5 I think. At this point it is hard to say how it has affected my DID because I was taking it before I was diagnosed and have been on it so long. It seems to work okay. The other drugs that I have taken along with this one have had the most affect on me: like Abilify, ,Risperdal, Seroquel among others.
My psychs have always said that psych drugs work differently for everyone, so I think they are always just taking a shot in the dark to some extent.

take care

Well yes I have. And for me it was the worst med I ever tried. I became really confused and aggressive. I had just about every possible side effect listed. And hypochondriac because of the sjs and tens. It's supposed to help you dissociate less according to some studies but it made me so much worse. But hey, that really doesn't mean a thing, since meds work differently for everyone. I'm on ssri antidepressants now and they work well.

indeed. meds are different for everyone. and I am concerned about side effects. and taking a drug that no one understands.

I am still waiting to hear back from my psych guy. other docs are prescribing this med for migraines.

I've tried neurontin and topomax before. the former made me feel like a slow motion robot and the latter made me a raging ###$.

and I'm still pissed about how these pricks are treating me.

thanks for chiming in. i ######6 hate tryng new drugs. it has some incredibly good anecdotal reports from PTSD Vets but we are a bit more than PTSD here.
