Any ideas on how to calm an angry protector?

Postby Ponyta » Sat Feb 09, 2019 9:38 pm

At least one of my protectors aren't doing so well right now. Well due to everything going on lately with Logan (in the inner world) and our Outer world problems no wonder.....I don't blame him. There is still inner chaos going on. Too much for everyone to handle right now.....and I know my protectors seem to take the worse of it. I wish everything would get straightened out so they could relax. I don't like seeing everyone like this.

Well.....Blaze is extremely agitated right now. He normally goes to his room (in the inner world) to try to calm down....but for some reason he didn't this time. He is standing near me with a fireball in his hand (although that's not unusual....since he can control fire and doing so relaxes him). I can feel the frustration or something in the air around him. I think he wants me to talk to him or something (the way he is looking at me)....but I'm not sure what to say or anything.

I normally avoid him when he is like this.....due to his command before regarding that.....this time is different though. I think he wants me to try to help calm him. Any ideas?

At least for us everyone has their own calm down methods but it can take a while to work out. You could try soft words

Thank you for the suggestion! I appreciate it! :)

I understand what you mean about everyone having different methods that work though.

Has anyone talked to this protector about what steps are being taken to get you into a safer situation? Just knowing that things are improving or that there is a reasonable plan to improve things can calm down some protectors. Other protectors may feel a need to stay vigilant until enough danger has passed though. If you don't have a plan in place for improving things, maybe talk to him about making a plan?

Might be worth asking him if he knows what he needs.

Best of luck!

Thank you for your response! I appreciate it! :)

Blaze and I haven't talked much since we met.....Blaze tends to keep to himself. Especially when he gets upset. The idea of a plan sounds like a good idea though. It might help him feel better. I'll have to try that. Thank you again! :)

Hi Ponyta, have you thought about maybe doing a interview session with Blaze? I have done this in the past (recent past), with my Protectors and others. I start writing in a journal, and they reply. It is really interesting to read back. I have also noticed that some of my alters have not only done this with each other, but with me. There is an interview in one of my journals between myself and Autumn J, that happened when he was in front.

Maybe that is something you could do with Blaze?

I did try doing that when I first met Blaze/was getting to know him. He was very reluctant to talk about the past (I think that's what's really bothering him)........but maybe he would be willing now. It's been a long time since I last spoke to him in our journal (I talked a little in the inner world though). I'll have to try it. He might be willing to say more in the journal.....than out-loud. Thank you for the idea! :)
