Each situation is different and it sounds like you have found something that works for the two in your life. SF and I were married 10 years before we found out. We handle it a little different, but I agree that SO’s should not be the therapist. SF and I would be stuck in chaos or split up if I had tried. Her T is priceless!

You may want to see a counselor yourself. That’s a lot of upheaval in a year.

I don’t know your situation, but it sounds like one I was in before I met SF. SO and I broke up. After silence, I came back in the picture in the “friend zone”. Tried to show her I changed and subtly rebuild the relationship. She was comfortable with me and considered me “safe” and a confidant, but she was moving on. Being that close and watching her move on with someone else was crushing to me and I went through a very dark place before I came back to my true self. Don’t do that to yourself! Don’t be a martyr!

Now, if M (and others) have a desire to patch things up, hey, that’s cool. But if so, do seek couples counseling if that is a path you all choose.

And if I’m reading this wrong, then kindly just ignore the previous two paragraphs.
