How much does treating this cost? And how much time does it require? Thanks in advance

To even attempt to answer the first question would require knowing, in advance, a wide variety of multiple factors, not the least of which is costs for therapy, medication, hospitalization, etc...

I'm not sure if you're serious or not.

isstd.org is a good resource to answer questions about treatment. some first steps would be learning self care, boundaries, and grounding. the website has lots of materials and tools to help find treatment. and it has the most current recommended treatment guidelines.

it usually takes a long time and costs vary widely. lots of variables. the country you are in has a lot to do with it. we have members from many countries.

welcome to the forum.

Whoa boy, they both depends on a lot of things that are objective (insurance coverage, what country you are in, T (therapist) rates, etc.) as well as many that are extremely subjective (support network, severity, willingness).

All I can offer is where Sunflower and I are. There was about 6 months of T sessions (depression) before the alters were discovered. We are nearing the one year anniversary of that discovery and quality of life is generally improved, self harm urges from multiple times per day to occasionally in a week, and cooperation between most insiders and host most of the time.

My wife is pretty motivated and I did a lot of work to help with discovery. I still interact a lot with them frequently, but the processing is handled with her T. I’m there afterwards for comfort, support, and positive interactions.

Visits are $90 until insurance kicks in, then I think they are $36. It was weekly the first 8-9 months, then twice weekly sporadically (as available) for a couple months, then twice weekly scheduled since… April maybe. We are in the Midwest of the US if that helps. We have not required hospitalization or inpatient care. I credit that to a good support team both inside and outside the body. :D

My state issued insurance doesn't cover specialty Ts so I'm stuck going to a regular one that isbcoveres. Ts for DID in my state are about 90-180$ per visit depending on the person.

We have state insurance (we live in the U.S.). Our insurance covers our T. She is not a specialist, but we trust her and she has had experience with DID. We have been seeing her for about two years now, but it has only been in the last 6 months that one of our insiders "outted" us to the T.

The length of therapy will depend upon each person and the T, and what you wish to accomplish. We do not wish to integrate, we function very well as we are. But for the most part we have very open and easy internal communication and have come to a point of partial integration... by that I mean that we can call chose to give full access to our memories to others. And we can co-conscious very easily now. But, we can also "drive" on our own with the others unaware of what is going on, and we can still keep secrets if we wish (we do not, often, and there are still things about our past that I do not tell the others).

I do not understand your second comment. You were the original requester of how much treatment costs. :?: :?: :?:

I'll also add that Dr. Phil must not have been married to someone with DID. I sure had my doubts before I got first hand experience. It took less then half an hour interacting with E and LR to see DID is legit.
