I am really frustrated with the IOP program the hospital referred me to when I was discharged from the hospital. It is in the local mental health center and doesn’t have a trauma focus. Every time I am there someone triggers me to the point where I have a panic attack. I talked to the main therapist and he said I should g t to know people and that the people in the group would be interested in what my experiences are because people are fascinated with DID and want to know what it’s like having DID. That made me not want to go even more. I’m not going so people can learn about what DID is really like; I’m going so I can learn to deal with the new diagnosis and start being ok with the fact that I share my body with others and so I can start to communicate with the others to get more stable. Has anyone else run into a similar situation? Also, besides my therapist who specializes in dissociative disorders, who do I tell when one part revealed a name to me but I’m not sure if I already know about this part?

I don't know what IOP is but sorry you are frustrated. I would be too if I was pointed towards a program or whatever that wasn't going to be helpful. And more so if they just wanted me there to be like some sort of exhibit for everyone else to gawk at because DID is 'fascinating'.
As for who you can talk to about stuff like learning a new name and all, for us we talk about stuff like that here, and in our journal, and sometimes with our best friend.
