I know that sometimes people experience side effects with meds so they can't take them. This thread is not about that.
We struggle to get a reliable effect from medication.
Sometimes meds turn out to be too strong because they hit the Littles and the dose seems too high.
Sometimes only the front person is influenced, getting super sleepy while everyone else is still going crazy.
Sometimes everyone but the front person is influenced and it gets really silent inside but the front person is still struggling.
Sometimes it is like the dose is spread over a dozen parts so it is not high enough and it doesn't do a thing.
we were told that this could be solved when the part who needs the meds is the one taking them. This turned out not to be true for us.
I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this and if you have found a solution.
I really really need antidepressants. And We are willing to give it a try. But we somehow need to figure out how to make this work consistenly.

Hi birdsong,
That kind of happens to us. It's like Host takes a pill and Colin's headache gets better but Host is like - it still hurts!
Hope it gets better.

I relate to the examples you give. Sadly, I don't know how to make the meds work consistently.
Our "solution" was to stay away from meds that you have to take every day, and stick to meds that are indicated to use "as needed". So then I can kind of gauge whether it's a good time to use them or not. E.g., when littles are fronting it is NOT a good time. The med I take works for about four hours. Usually we can manage. And we also adapt the dosage to be as low as possible. (And yes, sometimes it feels as if it's not working at all, other times it feels a lot stronger).
I'm sorry I don't have any better answers.
