New Gal (+ others) in town

Postby LadyColes » Sun Jul 22, 2018 5:06 am

Hi everyone! My name is Coles and I'm a newly diagnosed DID with C-PTSD, chronic depression, anxiety and chronic migraines.

I am still learning about my alters. My first one to meet was a little. Her name is Little, she's 3.

There are 3 others that I know of but still don't have a real handle on their identities. Smash is like the Incredible Hulk. He's a protector. There's a teenage girl and another female.

I'm really struggling with accepting all of the trauma from my childhood. I really had no idea how much there was and it's causing me to question my relationship with my family. It will be a very long work in progress but I know it will be for the best.

I am married and I have 3 awesome furbabies. 2 Great Danes and 1 Jack Russell Terrier. They definitely make all of this so much easier daily.

I've read through a lot of the threads and I must say I've learned so much already. Thank you all for sharing your stories and experiences. This definitely can make you feel so very strange and isolated from your family and friends, so it is great to see such an inclusive community.

Welcome, Coles!!

There's a littles thread and a teen thread which are nice for those ages if yours want to meet other littles and teens.

This forum has helped me a lot--I spent a long time reading old posts before I even dared to join and post about myself, but people on here have always been supportive and nice, and it's been like a touchstone for me and all the parts to help us remember that this is real.

Thanks everyone! There's so much information here. It's also nice to see I'm not alone and to see all the similar symptoms or side effects from this condition that is showing in others. My husband and I are both feeling very overwhelmed. I've dealt with depression and anxiety for my whole life, so I could easily coach him and give him tips on how to help me through those moments. We're both fish out of water right now.

Also, it kind of feels like the flood gates have opened up since the first one popped out. Little presented herself 2 weeks ago and it feels like every couple of days I am having new dissociations. It's very interesting, but I feel like I can't keep up. I've been journaling like crazy trying to make sure I write down details so I can keep them all straight. They've all been so quiet for so many years, I guess they're eager to talk? Is this kind of normal or does everyone kind of experience the presentation of each of them differently?

Welcome to the forum...We're a newbie too! But its going very well so far.

We're a system of around 50+ guys, so there was a lot of memories, talk, feelings and 'personality' once we all got going. We all kind of 'exploded' out around 5 years ago, but things have calmed down since.

My advice would be to keep listening and journaling, but don't worry too much about 'getting it all'. Your other alter is a person, and so just wants to be listened to...forever! We fell into the trap of thinking of ourselves as 'videotapes' or just books, when actually we are people saying stuff!

Start as you mean to go ahead I'd say. Would you want to be journalling all of the little alters thoughts and ideas for the rest of your lives together? Perhaps so! :D

We have lots of paper, tabs, note spaces, to jot things down as we go...which we'll probably do forever now. We then have a 'review' each week to keep important notes, put info on our own personal pages...stuff like that.

Anyways, good luck with it all!

Thank you! I love that some of you have a name for some of your conglomerates. That's so awesome!

This has been such a relief, tbh. I'm so thrilled to finally be getting all of this out in the open and working on it. I know it sounds weird, but I've done therapy for years and never felt like I was getting everything resolved. It finally feels like I'm truly working through all of it.
