The link below is to a short item by Nicolene Joubert describing her awakening to DID (then MPD) in 1988 during a conference in the United States, when she recognized that one of her clients back home in South Africa was living with DID.

That’s really interesting! If I recall there isn’t a lot of information on DID and other dissociative disorders in countries outside of Europe and North America, so it’s fascinating to see another, and also lends credence that they are not a Western “creation.” Thank you for posting this!
