Met the T today. Interesting

Postby DelilahKBL » Thu May 31, 2018 4:05 am

So I, B, met the therapist today, officially. K was doing “family therapy” with the kids and the ex was on the phone, and our husband was listening from our phone (yes, ex knew husband was there too). Anyway, after the kids were sent out, the ex started to get pissy. I got tired of listening to his lies and decided to handle it. I called him out on his b.s., and it got loud.

So after the T ended to call, husband kept telling me to calm down. I looked at the T, smiled, and said, “Hinim B, nice to meet you.” And winked as I shook her hand.

Well then it was time to take the kids to church, but I was still a bit worked up. So Delilah starts to make her way out, and the T actually recognized that we were switching, and somehow knew it was D who was coming out. Her voice sounded faded to me, but I heard her say, “I think D is coming out to take the kids to the ice cream social.” So then D introduces herself, all dainty and prom n proper (barf), and we leave.

Later I see a text from K to the T that says “So you met B and D. Not exactly how I expected the introductions to go. Lol.”

I frigging hate the ex. Ugh!!!

lol NyxX, same here.

Good work Delilah, K, Britney. It's a big deal meeting / coming out to a T for the first time.

I guess this T must be familiar with DID to recognize a switch coming on?

Anyways, glad it went well and hopefully the T will be helpful for all of you going forward.

D told her about us (pretending to be K) only AFTER making sure it was “safe.” Part of what made D feel ok about it was finding out the T has had a patient with DID. She’s the one who actually diagnosed it. The person had no idea. T says it was about a year after starting therapy that she started putting some things together and figured it out. Saw her for two more years, until the three “personalities” were able to work together as a team in the system.

I decide so I liked her when she took my side on something. D (again, pretending to be K) was saying how frustrated she was with me, and the specific things she wanted me to change. T told her that she was r of ting too much. HA!!!

And after finding out about us, the T actually pointed out a specific situation and correctly identified that it had been me and not K. So... I figured why not, since she knew I exist. And the ex was seriously pissing me off. I can’t oretend to be K nearly as well as D can.

I don't know something nice because its something we haven't had the courage to do (that may in part be because of the T's we've has and because our awareness is only recent but we can't even imagine telling our new T when we meet her next week.) So something nice to say how good it is to tell them

Oh. Ok. Got it.
Don’t fret too much. K has been talking with this therapist for a long time. S wasn’t even sure it was time to tell her until she knew the T had experience with DID. Even then it was hard.

Hugs. You’ll meet them when you’re ready.
