Just got back from the therapist.
She read the letter I gave her, told me that it's not something that's weird for her, and asked me a bunch of questions.
Now I have a questionnaire to fill out and a book recommendation.
My thoughts and emotions are all over the place now.

Congrats on having the strength / courage to get through telling her.
I hope you have time to relax for a while and let your system settle down again.

That's great!! That's one of the things I have most appreciated about my T--none of this is weird for him. Certainly not as weird as it is for me! And that has been very reassuring.
Sounds like you found a good one!
What I've started doing when I leave my T's office and my "thoughts and emotions are all over the place" is to grab the journal and give anyone who feels like it the chance to express what they're feeling and thinking. It helps me offset the tendency to pick one of those points of view as being the "true" one--about how the session went, what I think of the T, what I think about therapy in general, etc, etc, etc. It really helps me stay open to all of those points of view.

Thank you, everyone!
I'm relieved she seems to be knowledgeable, because I had to trawl the internet to find her. There wasn't ANYONE in the big hospital network where I live who worked with dissociation.
The journal is a great idea. I'll go do that. I have a lot of negative/doubting voices screaming pretty loud at me right now.
