So I think before I mentioned somewhere that the nhs will only give me therapy in blocks of 16-20 weeks and we were coming to an end.
Well it ended with me being told I can't tolerate my emotions well enough and dissacociate to much and in the months (until December) I have to wait before my go can put me back on the waiting list for a new block I need to work on my distress before we can begin again or therapy won't be effective.
And while I'm being told this all I could think was I bloody well know I can't tolerate my emotions and dissacociate to much why do you think I wanted help in the first place.
And so I'm left feeling like I need to get better before they will try to help me and it sucks. And I've been feeling helpless and lost a lot because of it.
Anyway we decided enough is enough if we can't expect help from the bus we will look into private therapy (which we can't really afford as we only manage to work part time but we don't feel like we have much choice).
So to the BACP (British accociation for counselling and psychotherapy) site. Well the mind site first because we didn't know where to begin looking. So we go to the directory 108 therapists and councillors in our area.
Yay someone must be able to help us but thats to many to look though. Add keyword trauma, down to 16 still not to bad I'm sure we can find someone still.
Get rid of the men because we perceive men to be threats more. Ok still 10.
Read through profiles only 3 have have mentioned a history or knowledge of trauma the rest put down they treat PTSD but talk about working in other fields. So we are done to 3 but that should be ok right? One of them will be able to help me.
BACP allows me to contact them through there site so yesterday sent a message to them. Can I ask some questions? Do you have experience with complex post traumatic stress disorder or dissociative disorders? Are you ok working with someone who experiences a high degree of disassociation?
First response was within minutes and the most important part of said response.
"At present complex trauma and dissociation is not an area of therapeutic support I work with."
The other 2 I'm still waiting for a response from. But I am scared the responses will also be no and what will I do if that's the case. Things can not continue as they have been and I'm at a point again when I don't know how to make things better. Trying to accept and acknowledge my parts is only getting us so far.

PODS maintains a list of experienced therapists who work with trauma and dissociation. You could contact them and ask them to give you a referal? They don't publish the list online but they'll send you some names I believe?
https://support.pods-online.org.uk/find-a-therapistGood luck.

So still no reply from either of them so I phoned one. The one who said she specialises in trauma and she said yes she does deal with dissociation. And when I told her about how things ended with the last T she said that she wouldn't share that point of view and that she feels we dissacociate for a reason and to the amount we need so she would look at why with me if that's what I want to do.
She also said about booking an initial appointment so I can see if I like her and we can discuss what I want and need from therapy. But that she was out and didn't have her diary so can she contact me again when she gets home.
Edited to add apparently she did reply and she will resend it she isn't sure why I didn't get it before.

I mistyped my email when I submitted the message to her on the BACP site. And I have an appointment for the 6th June

I'm meeting the new T wednesday and I'm starting to feel really nervous and like I don't want to go and I'm not prepared (which I'm not I kept procrastinating.) And I so need this to go well because the 3rd one replied and she wasn't any experienced either but said she would be willing to try to help. So this has to work because I have no clue how far I'd have to travle to find someone else. Well I do because I looked it would be at least 3 hours including bus and train each direction and that's for a maybe I felt like messaging her would be asking for failure before I start. So this has to work but I feel like that's putting to much pressure on it and me and then I keep trying to avoid it
