I was the one who said parts can not die. And I said also there I have dead parts, but they were "born" dead. So.. if you have a part, normal part who is alive, there is no way they can die in the inner world. They can go away, somewhere deeper inside and it can feel like they don't exist anymore, but it's different than dying. Part can't kill themself or have any accident inside that could kill them, or they can't be killed by other parts. I know parts who have tried to die, they no longer wanted to exist, but they had no right to kill the body and the whole system with it, so they tried to commit suicide in the inner world. It just doesn't work. They can not die. No matter what they do in there.

Dead parts have not died in the inner world. They have never been alive in the inner world, and then died. They have been created in the situations where body almost died, when mind really believed it will die. So it has been traumatic situation, like the ones where trauma parts are created many times, but it was so bad, mind believed it is the real death now at that moment, and the new part who was created in that situation, believes he is dead. The mind did believe it was the end of life, for real, all life and body and all are going to die, but they didn't. The new part just doesn't know it wasn't true, but the body survived, and because it survived, the trauma of an actual dying experience from that situation takes a form of a dead one.

***TW physical abuse and torture: We have two of them, first one was created when our body was suffocated several times to the point of unconsciousness. From our point of view, there wouldn't been any difference if we would have been murdered for real then. We were already unconscious. But the abuser stopped there, and we woke back here again. The experience was still the same than it would have been if he would have murdered us. The difference between if we died or not happened AFTER we lost consciousness already, so our mind thought it was the death. Our mind had no way of knowing he is going to stop. And the traumatized part who in the way was murdered that day, is that believe of certain death. We woke up, but with new part, the one who died there.

The second part was created when abuser banged our head to the wall to the point of losing consciousness and having brain damage. Very same thing then also, we were already unconscious, when he decided to stop anyway, and we were taken to hospital, and therefor we didn't die after all, because he didn't bang one more time and we got the medical help early enough to survive. But from our point of view, what happened that day, we could as well be dead. Then we just wouldn't have woken up ever again. We couldn't know we will be saved at that point when we were knocked down, and our mind thought it was the end. But again we woke up again, and the believe we had, the experience of dying, took a form of another dead one. TW ENDS***

It is a trauma to be murdered, and in a way my both two dead parts have been murdered. They have experienced that to the point it can be experienced ever. If they were murdered, it all had just stopped there. But because we woke up again after the experience, those parts of mind who experienced those murders, are now existing inside a living body.

I can't explain it any better, I hope you understood the difference between a part dying in the inner world, and the part who was created because mind believed it died.

I am also sorry it happened to them. Sorry it was done to them. We try to learn to say done, it didn't just happen, it was actively done by someone.

After the head injury we never went back home again, so in a way it truly was the end of our life as we knew it. As the ones of us who where here then, knew it.

I share memories, but wasn't here back then in my current form.

Well, they can kill both themselves and others if the symbolics for what death is exists, for example after the system have witnessed a brutal murder. But its not a real death, its mostly just a deep sleep they can be woken up from. Bodyglue is very useful when someone have been cut to pieces too...
However, I think that when one alter actively holds another alter in a suspended state is more similar to real death.

Death is symbolic in my system, like having an unquiet spirit (ghost form) or resting in peace (dead form).
