About duplicate alters?

Postby TheCollective » Wed Mar 28, 2018 11:14 am

Lately we've been thinking we have a (another) 'duplicate?' alter (that pass as one but aren't). I wonder how to confirm or dismiss the reality? And I just wonder why and how? Jessica has been saying that some events in the recent past weren't caused by her even though to me it seems like they were. It's weird though because she's around all the time so if it really was her, things like that would happen a lot more often right? I've known Jess all my life basically. If there is another how could I confuse her for Jess and when did she get here? Have we accidentally created another alter?

There have been times where I thought V2 was out but later found out it wasn't her. Or times she thought I was there, but it turned out it was not me. Making us think there's at least one other part who pretends to be (or maybe they believe they are) one or the other of us 'known' parts.

We have seen reference to alters called 'imposters' or 'imitators', parts who pretend to be another known part but keep their own identities hidden. Unfortunately we haven't been able to find any more details about this kind of alter.

Sorry I don't realy have anything useful to say, just that we've had similar experiences.

In our system of about 100 members, we have many duplicates. When we discovered the system, our hosts didn't even know they were two different people as they looked alike and answered to the same name. They had to meet each other face-to-face to know they were different, and a lot of things made sense after that as their personalities are quite contrasting.

We also have shapeshifters who impersonate other alters; one impersonates people without even meaning to. It's just an impulse. (We've discovered a way to test if someone is really her, though. We imagine her own face over the person in question. If the person changes to match the face, we know it's her. If not, they're legit.)

I know communication can be tricky, but are you not able to ask this person who they are when you suspect the alter is not the Jessica you know?

Hope you figure things out!
