Vacation Was Great!

Postby diamond-dani » Mon Jul 09, 2007 4:54 pm

We had a really great vacation. We went to Pensacola, FL. None of us remember ever going to the ocean before. Dani spent all day Friday swimming and frolicing in the waves. She found shells and got pinched by a crab.

Do you have alters that take over in the event of an emergency? When the crab pinched her foot I "popped in" in case there was a problem that needed dealt with.

This was the first vacation where all of my alters got to enjoy themselves. Well, I should say my main alters. I've mentioned that there are 2 that rarely show themselves. I did discover another exists. Now that I know what I'm looking for I can see the differences. What I thought was 1 alter is actually 2. Do any of your alters have the same name?

I have a ton of Amber alters. Their names are slightly different. Amber ray, little amber... etc.
I also have a group of sister alters whose names all end in allie or ally. Callie, Sally, Dally, Ally, you get the picture.
The emergency thing, the alters are there for emergencies, they were born from emergency. Some for different emergencies than others though.
We are glad you had a good vacation.
we all need that!

My DH gave her a new name... she asked for it because she didn't want to be confused. He has actually named all of the alters except dani and little Tina (who rarely makes an appearance). I'm confusing the situation because my understanding is that I'm actually an alter, but since I've been in control for so long it doesn't feel like I'm an alter.

So he named her Belle, because she is a lady, a soft, southern belle, very tender and loving... she's the only part of me that is.

How do you get your names? Do you just automatically have them, or do you choose them? Tina is the name we were born with. Dani (danielle) is the name we chose in French class the year we split. I am called diamond because my DH told me the first time we made love that he saw nothing but diamonds (I was embarrassed about this body).

I was thinking on this last night. I know that some people have alters from another gender. I don't... and can't imagine what life would be like for my poor DH if I did.

All of my alters understand that we're married, though dani, while understanding it, accepts it for the others, but it's not her reality.

I have a few male alters and a few... animal alters.
The male alters sometimes get confused, but mostly they are here for protection. They are very useful though, living as we do with another female roommate. They are handy with tools, and work around the house and balcony. They know a little about cars (probably as much as they could glean off of my dad when I lived at home) and they LOVE eating meat.
As for sex and attraction, so far nothing has come from them. So it has not been complicated.

Thanks for sharing that your husband has named your alters Diamond. My friend And roommate has helped to name some of my alters if they didnt have a name or didnt like their name. And I thought for a while that maybe it was making things worse, but I realized later it was only healing them more.

i never had a name for mine, he pretty much is me. i call him john as well . he rarely interracts with others and when he does he understands peoples uncertainty towards our condition and basically plays it off like he is me. around you guys though theres no fear of that so i think he'll come out more. and to keep the confusion to a minimal ill ask him to tag any post he makes with John2.

thats cool.
Um, some of the Ambers are all amber but we attached something to their name to distinguish them from one another, I am Big Amber, and then there is Little Amber and Medium Amber... but it is helpful and they are their own...

HI,
I USUALLY GO BY HOW OLD THE ALTER IS. SOME DON'T WANT ME TO NAME ALTERS. IT AMBARRASSES THEM. WHEN I WAS LITTLE, I CALLED ONE OF THE FIRST ALTERS CRICKET. AS I GOT OLDER I WAS TOLD NOT TO DO THAT, ONLY CRAZY PEOPLE DO THAT. PROBRABLY BY MY MOM. EVER SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN AFRAID TO USE ANY OTHER NAMES.

CRICKET IS A MASCULINE ALTER. HE FEELS LIKE A GUY BUT IS NOT SEXUAL. HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT EVER WENT BY ANOTHER NAME. OTHERS GO BY NICK NAMES LIKE; BIKER CHICK, FLOWER CHILD, NATURE LOVER, INTELLECTUAL, ETC... I GUESS THAT'S KIND OF NAMING THEM.

DO ANY OF YOUR ALTERS GET MAD IF YOU TRY TO NAME THEM? THE THERAPIST SAID IT WOULD BE LESS CONFUSSING TO HIM IF I DO, BUT I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT IT.

My alters feel a little lost without names, so no, they don't get mad. From my point of view, when everyone thought that I was diamond it annoyed me. I couldn't reconcile myself to being the same as someone who enjoys pain and thinks about sexual things all the time.

Being given my own name was a confirmation of my unique identity.
