i have a question

Postby OceanWaves » Wed Jan 10, 2018 6:30 pm

I'm still new to my DID diagnosis, learning about my parts and my system, and just trying to figure all of this out.

Sometimes I get a feeling from inside, sometimes it's a voice/thought, but I'm not always sure who it's coming from.

Does that make sense and is this normal? If so, does it get easier to figure out where the voices or feelings are coming from?

I think I need to talk to my T about how I can better communicate with my parts.

Hi Oceanwaves,

All pretty normal stuff. It's SO much better after you get your communication straightened out. Then you know who's feeling bad and can do something about it. Talking to your T about this sounds good. Better communication is like the biggest goal in therapy.

we are only a year into accepting our multiplicity but that sounds remarkably similar to something we went through some months ago. This forum is a wonderful resource.

It sounds pretty normal for us as well.

We're less than 2 months into this journey but we frequently have feelings or words from inside where we don't know the source.

Hi,

It's not like we always know who's feeling what but when we're communicating really good we can find out by asking and (mostly) someone will talk about it and then we can figure out what to do.

what is disconcerting to us is how we can receive an emotional impulse from within so swiftly when triggered and sometimes we don't even know what the trigger was.

I'm also very new to this, but it seems to me less important to find out who is talking or sending the feeling or thought, than it is to let them know that you have received it and want to help them with whatever it is. I'll often write or talk to them to let them know I've heard them.

I've had parts express themselves in the journal without letting me know who they are and I always tell them that I'd like to know more about them when they're ready to tell me, but I still want to hear from them in the meantime. I think that to them, how they are feeling and whether they are starting to trust me is much more important than telling me their name or function (if they even know) just to satisfy my curiosity at that moment.

Ooooh, so very well said! Our T has suggested the exact same thing. Validation is crucial.
