An alter that won't switch out?

Postby WeAreOne420 » Mon Dec 25, 2017 7:51 am

I have an alter that won't switch out. What do I do?

Also this "late" formed from a split. I think.

I remember having a terrible confusion. And feeling conflicted about an issue and i literally felt a split and have been stuck with it since Feb. Of this year.

What do I do?

From traumadissociation.com, co con is a important way to reduce amnesia so that there is cooperation and functioning and everyday life.

A headmates visual is important way to remind that you are not alone. Teamwork is important!

To switch out, possible send it into hiding is possible way, a way to embarrass it. Ask ur therapist to help with what/who is ticking them off or something alongs the lines of that .

It's perfectly ok for an alter to not switch, we have a large number who don't even concern themselves with the outside, but they are like engineers working deep in the guts of a machine. If this alter will front, it will be when they feel comfortable and safe enough to do so.

They don't have to come out for things to get better. Just talk to them and see what they need. That will keep the confusion down.

When they say 'be yourself',
which one do they mean?

Colin

My issue is more than one might overstay their welcome and not allow me to switch to someone else or be alone.

It might be someone that makes me feel highly uncomfortable nd I just feel stuck in that person.

When I talk to my alters they won't answer. Is it because I'm new to this?

I had a conversation with an alter just today! It was short, and I was exhausted when it was over, but it was successful. I wouldn't have tried it without this forum.

we have internal alters who sort of let others speak for them if that makes any sense.

well done. It is normal for this to take a lot of energy. I was completely bagged one day after seeing a Pdoc. turns out i lost a small amount of time. I don't usually lose time now. The amount of mental energy used to switch, or block out others is significant.

Alters tend to have reasons for not switching out of not coming out. I agree with Colin it is best to search out what each part needs. Remember they are your equivalent, so maybe you wanting them out doesn't seem fair. or maybe they need something and having the body is essential to that. Listen and respect go a long way
