Inside & Visualizing Parts

Postby Amythyst » Sun Dec 10, 2017 4:56 pm

I'm curious what it's like for folks when inside and visualizing their other parts / alters / inner world.

I've got pretty good vizualization skills, for just about anything but people. I don't know if this is because we're prosopagnosic (face blind) or if it's just our own peculiar way. When I go inside to talk, my default 'landscape' is just a black void and everyone is just a disembodied amorphous entity.

I thought that might be intimidating or uncomfortable for others so I created a castle courtyard with lots of plants and trees and a fountain and benches. I can map out the entire castle around that, all the rooms and I can visit it all, but when I go there, I'm still an invisible floating mind/voice. I even made a mirror to try and see myself and I have no reflection. I've met Rebecca in there and can't see her either.

So I end up slipping back to the empty void because it's easier and I don't have to think about a house full of rooms without any people.

I'm also finding that sometimes when I hear from others, I don't know who they are. It's like, on some occasions there is a strong sense of them and I know immediately who I'm hearing from. Other times I 'hear' them but the words have no sense of 'who' is behind them. All I have to figure out who's spoken, is the dialog.

Like if you got a random text message from an unknown number, you could probably guess if it was a child, teen, or adult, based on the words and grammar of the message, but that's all the clues you have?

Just wondering what these experiences are like for other people, do you have environments, do you see your other parts in there as fully realized people?

The main space of our inner world is just a blank white room, I always feel a bit embarrassed its so unoriginal compared to some of the worlds we read about... But everybody inside has plenty of detail. They supply the visuals to me, everyone manages their own appearance. But despite being good at remembering faces, I struggle to visualize them...

I get this, mostly with commentary the thinker feels isn't worth taking credit for. Like griping about the cold while we're walking somewhere in Winter. We don't see it as a big issue really.

i did a project where all my parts picked out a picture of what they looked like. and I labeled them and put them on a gallery in my phone. so now we have like avatars in my head for each other.

I did get clear visuals on parts that needed rescue. but not the regular crew...

.except for that one time when I saw keeper tracker and he saw me and I had the awareness of both and to him, I looked like Peter Pan on acid, popping up like a rogue gopher. that was a weird experience. ###$. everything about DID is a weird experience.

I am a very visual person, too. but I hear the inside way more than I see it. I only see it when my consciousness is semi altered. like dreaming. or just on the edge of sleep.

I have a castle with a courtyard and a huge library. there is a great lawn that runs put to my woods by the river. and I have a secret safe cabin in the far north. further away and down there is an abandoned town. then there are country roads that wind through alligator swamps. and there is a city. with lots of grey concrete. and on the very farthest side of that is a big covered bridge. and I know not where that leads.

sometimes I dream about us. and we have bodies in my dreams. not everybody looks like their avatar. and nobody looks like the body.

but mostly we just talk in my head and it's a rarity for me to know who's talking to who most of the time.

I love this idea BeccaBee! We're going to try this and see how it goes.

we use http://recolor.me to make avatars for each of us. you have to make a free account, but once you do, you have access to their avatar maker. at the bottom of the editing screen there's a button that says "what if i had all the items" which unlocks everything for picture making purposes. it's good for alters that are a little bit more than human- recolor.me has wings and tails and fantasy creature parts too.

I know it's been a bit since someone last replied to this thread but it hasn't been more than a month so I figured it would be fine to post a reply with a question. Does anyone have any recomendations on how to improve our inner world? At the moment we have mostly blackness with a platform for everyone (except Alex, we can't figure out how to get him out of his area he's goes to when not in control of the body) which has been there for as long as any of us can remember. Thanks to some help from a friend with DID we were able to make a large glass wall and door near the front with some velvet drapes that we can close if needed (Alex has a smaller window to see out of his area with matching curtians and some vines draped around it) as an easier way for us to switch (we were having trouble switching so they helped us make a kind of 'control center'). My question now is, how do we go about changing our inner world more? And could it possibly become overwhelming if we create too much? Any tips on maintaining our inner world if we start to feel like we've created too much?

We didn't care for the avatar site, as we're not a fan of anime. We designed many of our avatars at http://illustmaker.abi-station.com/index_en.shtml . It's not perfect, but at least we have more control of the look and feel of the images.

We know what we look like, but when we visualize our innerworld, or when we interact with each other, we don't see each other. Interacting with each other is like being in a totally darkened room.
