Neither do I! So random!

But... good question Lark, it made me smile! I've often thought of that before , saying 'oh well, the best i can do is to just be myself' and then catching myself laughing as I realise the irony of that sentence. but its somehow truthful at the same time!

-- So what then is this I?
Right now, as you read this, does it amount to anything more than a collection of thoughts and memories which are just transitory, and come and go in the mind like clouds in the sky? --

I AM BEGINNING TO SEE HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE "OURSELVES". THE ONLY TIME I HAVE IS NOW. I DON'T KNOW FOR HOW LONE, OR WHEN OR HOW I'LL BE BACK. I'LL TRY TO LISTEN TO MY OTHERS. TO REALIZE THEY HAVE WANTS AND NEEDS THAT ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS "MINE". I'LL TRY NOT TO BLAME OR RESENT THEM. I WILL TRY TO EMBRACE AND UNDERSTAND THEM AS THEY ARE NOW. I HOPE WE CAN ALL GROW AND CHANGE IN A POSSITIVE WAY, FOR A BETTER TOMORROW.

WOW! What an interesting topic, since it's one I struggle with a lot. My husband wants me to work toward being my "true" self, but I'm not sure who that is.. and the idea scares me because I don't want to let go of my other "selves." Do they eventually merge, and if so, who do they become?

Well, in therapy there is supposedly only two ways, co-consciousness or wholeness...
I prefer the path toward co-consciousness at least for now... I am not ready or willing to give up my other personalities, especially after having just met them, and and the best thing I can do is try to understand them and work with them.

I HATE IT WHEN SOMEONE TELLS ME TO BE MY "TRUE" SELF. WE ARE BEING OUR TRUE SELVES! ALL OF THE ALTERS MAKE ME WHO I AM. IT'S NOT LIKE YOU CAN BLAME ONE OF THEM FOR SCREWING UP YOUR LIFE, OR FOR MAKING YOU LESS THAN A WHOLE PERSON. WORKING ON BEING MORE CO-CONSCIUOS HAS HELPED. I STILL HAVE BLACKOUTS, BUT I DON'T FIGHT AS MUCH WITH MYSELF, AND THAT'S AN IMPROVMENT. IF SOME ONE CAN'T EXCEPT THE WAY YOU ARE, SCREW THEM! WHO ARE THEY TO TELL SOME ONE HOW THEY "SHOULD" BE! I WOULD HAVE NEVER MADE IT WITHOUT MY ALTERS. THEY HELPPED ME EXCEL ABOVE THE HELL I WENT THROUGH. I CAN HELP BUT THINK A NORMIE OUTSIDER WOULDN'T LAST 5 MIN. FACING WHAT WE'VE FACED, AND STILL FACE TODAY.
YOU ARE A MIRACLE!
